Re: Mass Effect Andromeda Not Saving Game

Found that the folder the Save Data was to be stored in was set to "Read Only", so removed that requirement and changed the Admin access rules for the folder to allow full access as well, just in case.

  • Having the same issue but not sure where the Saved Data folder is located.  I have a folder under My Documents with other Bioware games save data but ME:A is not there.

Spent a couple of hours playing only to have to start over from the very beginning.  Makes the game virtually unplayable.

It seems that MEA can't access your "Documents" folder.

Try to run Origin or the "MassEffectAndromeda.exe" as administrator.

I run MEA from a desktop short cut by right clicking "run as administrator" and have no save/load issues.  I've been doing this for all my games since switching to Windows 10 and it's eliminated any starting/saving/loading issues with the games I've played recently.

  • I hope I'm doing this right, but I run the exe as administrator through the desktop and still won't save. I've been trying like 5 times in a row I probably have that entire intro sequence memorized.

The game shows the autosave icon but doesn't do a thing actually saving the game.

Tried both of these fixes and neither one worked. When i took the folder off read only but when i went back to check it marked as read only again. Ran game as administrator and still no autosave, no load options at all. And I swear If i have to play the prologue mission one more time im going to return the game

I am having a problem saving on my second playthough (Xbox one)  I had no issues on first play though. I started new game plus, switched to my twin, but it does not save new data. I see "Sara Ryder" it says add new save, but saves nothing .

I could not save anything on my second play through. Change over to my twin, started a new game plus played for like 3 hours and could not save . Tried reset on Xbox one, did the LOOOONNNGGGG first mission again, (because you can ont save on priority missions, only to find out again, that I can not save. Had over 100 manual saves on my first play though. So I decided to delete and drop down to about 40 manual save files. Still nothing. So had to do the long first mission again, but decided to rebooot/reset again. Now I can save. Do not know what it is exactly, but be carful . Make sure you chech that your game is being saved, before wasting multiple hours of play for nothing.

I think my download and install actually didn't create the files that the game would save data into. Look under Documents/BioWare/... and see if there is a file for "Mass Effect Andromeda" there. If not, you'll need to make one. Then, go back to the BioWare (and possibly the "Mass Effect Andromeda" ) file and right click on it. Click on "Properties", and then click on "Security".  Look at the names in the window that says "Group or User Names", click on each of those and see what "Permissions" they have. If the one with your name or the Admin access are missing some checks (like read and write), hit the "Edit..." button and give that User/Admin access (The "Special Permissions" box will almost never check, so I didn't worry about it.).

Even if the "Read Only" box comes back ticked, my game saves and other data are all still being kept, so it feels safe to say that that particular thing can be ignored, if all the rest starts to work for you like mine did.

  • Lucky you, im playing on ps4. So far no preblems with save data, after some time playing kadara map going to nexus and other stuff i return to kadara to finish what i started and gamee start popping message it is not being saved, i deleted all autosaves and normal saves thinking it will help.THEN i create a new save file and check it and there it is a new save and an auto save. I quit the game and boom only the mission saves remain........ kadara mission save was done at 12:10 now its 22: 17. What the hell?
