I'm having this same issue.
I have followed all of the recommended steps to correct this, but nothing has worked.
I have verified my files.
I have updated my driver.
I have disabled all hardware monitors.
I have disabled all overlays.
I have turned off V-Sync.
I have ran these steps multiple times. Each time I run the verification, it has taken several hours and between 8 and 11 files have been replaced.
Less than a week ago, my wife ran this same mission on the same PC with no problems at all. In fact, she has ran all 3 games with no problems. The only difference between her and me is that I use a controller and she uses a keyboard. Yes, I have tried playing it without a controller.
I can get as far as the first door that you are supposed to open on Haestrom after learning to stay in the shadows. When I approach the door, the game attempts to load the dialogue audio that is supposed to play, but then freezes before crashing to the trilogy select screen. The audio has successfully loaded one time, but the game still froze as it played before crashing. I have lost count of how many times this has now occurred.
