Re: my game won´t start after blue screen of death

You'll need to share the exact error from the blue screen. A BSOD can mean many things, but it's very unlikely it's caused by the game. It may have triggered the blue screen, but there's likely another underlying cause.

You can review your past BSODs with a utility called Blue Screen View: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html#DownloadLinks

  • i recently did find another problem in the ME2 game. so i tried to use compatibility mode settings, and i found a error wich said: "missing required file "ssleay32.dll".' i also re-installed ME2,.. i tried to delete it and make Origin repair it, but i still had the problem. i also saw the popup when trying to re-install ME2 i had on the 99th% of instalation, it told me something with DirectX. i appriciate the help, i really do. and the wierd thing is, the BSOD viewer can't detect any blue screens, i had 3 blue screen on this system, and it doesn't show a single thing..

i included pic with it. my recent BSOD said something with that my software wasn't insalled properly, etc..

i'd really like some awnsers on how to fix this, and i appriciate your help so much.

My search tells me that the dll file refers to OpenSSL communication with Microsoft Visual Studio. These are the steps to try and fix it (you may have tried a few of these already):

    • Clear the Origin Data Cache
    • Right-click on the game icon in your Origin client and select the "Repair Install" option.
    • Update all your drivers to the latest version. (I recommend a clean graphics driver installation. Remove existing drivers first.)
    • Install all available Windows updates. Checking VC++ steps as mentioned in table above.
    • Disabling origin Ingame may help
    • A clean boot may help
  • well-

none of the tips above worked..

    any other suggestions maybe?

and thank you so much for the help

EDIT: it keeps bringing up the "Missing required file SS.Leay32.dll" error, any idea's for any method-?

    Another thing you might try:

Find the folder where Mass Effect 2 is installed. For me that's Program Files - Origin Games - Mass Effect 2. Then open the Binaries folder.

There are two executables to launch ME2. One is called ME2Game.exe, the other is called MassEffect2.exe. Try each of them. If you're lucky, one doesn't throw the error.

  • i tried both with little luck, i'm saying little becuase with MassEffect2 it will run longer then ME2Game, and Origin does notice me playing ME2, it does start, but i won't get any screen pop-ups like "Here the black screen that you'll get when playing fullscreen." but Origin does tell me playing ME2, becuase my profile tells me so, but now i won't get the pop-up with "MIssing SSLeay32.dll" it just- yeah, nothing happens, i can see in my task manager that it does play, but it also doesn't play. becasue nothing happens. it does close itself after like- 10 secconds.

    any tips?

EDIT: if i delete the "SSleay32.dll" file, it will say that i'm missing the file. (ofc it misses you might think)  but when i replace the file again, it won't say anything. it tells me i'm playing the game, but then it closes itself.

ANOTHER EDIT: while i try to play ME2 too many times, Origin will stop responding and crashes. i also found a ssleay32.dll file in the Origin folder. (C:/Progam files x86/Origin), i hope this info helps.

  • thanks man, you helped me a hell lot, i really appriciate this!
