I think you can change the color of the lights in the armor customization menu/screen. Where you using the default light color (red if I remember correctly) or had you changed it?

Found the following recommendation via YouTube:

"This glitch happen when you choose color for the light on your armor like black,red,yellow,green,purple/pink,orange except for white, when you choose white it still do the same but the color will mix and you barely see it" -- Apr 7, 2012 by MobetaLife
