Re: Voeld: Gone Dark, Catch and Release, Clearing the Air - NONE work.

I definitely ran into a point during the main questline when none of these would spawn anywhere, and the kett camps were entirely empty as well. Eventually it was fixed and I could finish them all and turn them in. (If you go through 3-4 camps and nothing turns up, you're probably in the same situation that I was.)

believe the fix in my case was to progress with the main mission past a certain point. IIRC, I returned the Moshae to Aya, then finished A Trail of Hope and perhaps Hunting the Archon as well. It may have been taking HtA up through landing on Kadara, or it might have even been as late as retrieving the transponder on Kadara and speaking to Gil afterwards. Try progressing in stages and checking back to see if these tasks start spawning again.

Also don't despair if you run into a bug with an angaran bug (bad pun unavoidable). Several people, including myself, have found one angaran bug (in my case, the third one) unscannable despite chirping and despite SAM's instruction to scan it. Saving and reloading made it disappear for me, since they're randomly generated, but I found another one at the second camp that I crashed afterwards, where it scanned properly and continued the quest.

Good luck!

  • Thanks for the tip!  I tried the reload and save - it seems to have done the trick.  I then proceeded to just go in a vertical grid-by-grid pattern, stopping at every and any Kett camp, drill or crash site till I got all 3 scans for each of the side quests I mentioned.  This took me about 45 minutes to an hour, counting for a few deaths and reloads.

I would also recommend to keep an eye out for any Kett shuttles dropping off enemies - anytime I spotted one (that wasn't at a Remnant site), I would immediately proceed there, which seems to have spawned the required items.

Since the Kett shuttles seemed to guide me to the right spots (as in the most recent enemy respawn areas), I would recommend you hold off on finishing Task:  Clearing the Air and not shut down their shuttles till you have collected all the necessary scans for the other side quests.

Excellent advice! I noticed that watching for Kett shuttles would help lead you to an active camp, but you may well be right that there's a higher likelihood of finding a quest objective at those camps in particular.

Honestly, though, I'm not sure that shutting down the shuttles has a direct impact on the shuttles that you see landing on the planet. For one, that would make too much sense. Second, the quest says that you've shut down "some" (or a certain number of) shuttles, implying that there are others. At least for me kett shuttles have continued to land after I finished that particular objective: YMMV.

I tried several reload and saves but the Going Dark task, the Clearing the Air task and Catch and Release tasks on Voeld will not work.  Some don't allow me to scan even though I am at the right place and others just don't spawn the consoles or the angaran bodies.  It's very frustrating.

I have 4 tasks that I can't complete because of game bugs:

-- Nomad Shield Crafting - have all the materials, but can't complete the mission.

-- Catch and Release- Angoran bodies do not spawn where they are supposed to

-- Clearing the Air - no consoles spawn, kett camps are empty

-- Going Dark - I can see the bugs, the game shows me a search icon above them, but I can't scan them

  • @Debs1212: The angaran bugs frequently bug out. Try saving and reloading, but also leaving Voeld and returning. I've encountered it bugged both ways: already scanned so can't scan again, and unscanned but can't scan at all. In both cases the save/reload and leave Voeld/return worked eventually.

For these collection tasks please note that they're random: there is no one place they're "supposed" to be other than on Voeld. (The kett explosives spawn at Remnant sites; angaran bodies and bugs should spawn at kett sites.) No guide can point you to where they will spawn for you -- it changes every time you save and reload or leave and return.

If you're finding completely empty camps, try (in addition to saving/reloading and leaving/returning) progressing quests, including the main storyline. Eventually they will respawn. Also look for incoming kett shuttles to direct you to active sites.

The Shield Crafting is a well known bug and unfortunately doesn't have a fix or workaround: http://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/Cannot-craft-Nomad-upgrade-for-The-Task-quot-Nomad-Shield/m-p/5941800#M762

Thank you for letting me know. I have tried saving and reloading - leaving and returning to Voeld, etc many, many times with no success. It is helpful to know that some of those fetch quests are random, even so, I'll look for the Kett shuttles (and now the Elaaden shuttles) and when I go to the camp, it's still empty. Now my list of quests proving to be impossible to close is much higher. The one where I teach the Angaran N7 techniques - I go to talk to him and close it out and he does not say anything. So the quest won't close. I'm getting near the final story mission, so I am going to try one more time to close these quests out, and then finish the game. Otherwise, I'll just start my second play through and hope it doesn't happen again.
  • That new quest (Earn Your Badge) is bugged for 99% of players. Here's the biggest (but not the only) thread on that: http://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/Task-Earn-Your-Badge-doesn-t-complete/m-p/5983709#M10085

I'm sorry to hear it's taking so long for these random collection quests to work. It took someone else three days of continuing searching to get them all. I thought they were bugged for me on a number of occasions, especially since I finished the vault on Voeld first before trying to do most of them, but eventually they all worked out. I definitely had the camps stop respawning for me at a certain point, too, and I'm not sure what fixed it for me, but it was probably some combination of save/reload, leave/return, and progressing various quests. I didn't need to finish the whole game to get them working again.

I think the devs need to take a look at how these things spawn, just because so many people have had so much trouble with them even knowing they spawn randomly.
