Re: VR Support for Mass Effect Legendary Edition

I don't see how they could make that happen since it's a third person game with cinematic camera angles in cutscenes. If they want to do VR Mass Effect, I think it will have to be first person and built from the ground up as a VR game, kinda like Half-Life: Alyx.

  • @Fred_vdpAnd yet somebody else has already modded the regular game for VR so, if a mere fan can do it, I don't think it would be that terribly complicated. I also don't think that it would matter if the cutscenes remained 2D as long as you can play in VR.

Well, as I said, the complicating factor is that the conversation system uses cinematic angles. I googled the mod, and while it's impressive, it's limited to exploration (the Normandy and hub worlds). Combat and conversations still play out as standard, which is why I think the game would need to be built from scratch for VR.

  • Even if all they do is super wide cinematic 3d experience, it would still be more cool. I've played a lot of games not meant for VR via VORPX and best experience is that, feels like you are playing in your own private IMAX in 3D.

  • Someone clearly hasn't seen the gem that is Resident Evil 4's VR release for the Quest.
