Re: Why does the Mass Effect Legendary Edition include Genesis?

I have played the Mass Effect series since it first came out in 2007. I plan on getting the Legendary Edition but I am a little confused. Why does it include the Genesis comic (which basically allows you to select the MAIN choices for the previous game without playing the previous game)? I have played all three games in succession and have never used the Genesis comic because all my choices transferred over automatically (including the really minor choices which you don't get in the Comic).

Some people might want to change decisions they mad in ME1 or 2 without replaying the games.  😉

The next question is: Since it does include the Genesis comic, does that mean that I will be forced to use it, therefore my minor choices that show up in Mass Effect 2&3 become irrelevant? Or will you be able to turn off the Genesis comic? Or will you be forced to use the comic and the choices will not be automatically transferred?

No, of course not.
In a game of the original trilogy, the Genesis comic was only launched if you did not import a character from the previous game, it will be no different in the LE.

Actually in ME2 on PC the comic always launched but more as a recap than a chance to change decisions, and it also allowed you to make the one choice that wasn't in the save import which was who was counselor.  It didn't effect minor choices as I know from looking at flags in Save editors on my ME2 characters.

    I didn't play ME3 enough and I don't think I got the Genesis2 dlc for it....

To me it was kinda nice to see my choices explained thus making sure I had the correct save for the character I wanted to run....

    That is strange...

I never had Genesis launched in one of my games.

Might be that I disabled it and forgot about it, will test at the weekend. 😉

  • @mcsupersport  The "Councilor choice" does appear in the import because I have never used the Genesis comic and it always gets my Councilor decision correct when I import.

Previous to the comic, the Counselor choice was made in the shuttle ride when Miranda was quizzing you on your mental state after escaping the first part of the prologue.  ME1 made a final save when you were in the tunnel going toward the final battle, and didn't make another save after the Counselor choice was made.  So in the comic you see a recap of your ME1 game choices and choose the Counselor, in standard ME2 game w/o the comic you heard a bit of a ME1 recap in the shuttle and made the Counselor choice then.

So yeah, the game got it right, but only because you entered the choice for it at the correct time.  Maybe MELE will fix this, I have no clue, or maybe they will just keep it the same.  If you want to test it, then start a new game and make the wrong choice in the shuttle and see what happens.
