    On GOG you can get offline/standalone installers for all the games in their shop, and you won't need Galaxy (their launcher). A small number of multiplayer-based games require Galaxy.

    Pretty much all other storefronts will have you run their games through a launcher. EA is no different there from Steam, Epic, Blizzard, etc.

@Lerch2OOO Launcher is part of the game (call it main menu if you like) while the 3 games are considered as chapters. That if you mean the game launcher. If by launcher you meant Origin client, well, that is the platform.
Still fail to see how is this a "Shady sales technique" since on store pate states clearly " INTERNET CONNECTION; EA ACCOUNT; ACCEPTANCE OF EA USER AGREEMENT (terms.ea.com), PRIVACY & COOKIE POLICY (privacy.ea.com), & ORIGIN END USER LICENSE AGREEMENT (ea.com/legal) & INSTALLATION OF THE ORIGIN CLIENT SOFTWARE (origin.com/download) REQUIRED TO PLAY. " There is no room for interpretation.
Launcher feeding information in background? of course it does to ensure "ACCESS TO SOFTWARE CONTENT IS LIMITED TO ONE EA ACCOUNT & IS NON-TRANSFERABLE AFTER PURCHASE."
Again, printed on store page and asked for confirmation during install.

    @Lerch2OOO as @sweetpoison0011 has clearly stated, multiple times, Origin is REQUIRED to run Mass Effect, PER THEIR LEGAL AGREEMENT. They were not trolling. They were helping you by accurately answering the question. Origin store makes it clear that an Internet connection and Origin is required to play the game. Steam store makes it clear that Origin is required to be running in the background in order to play.

    So, in fact, you DID get what you paid for.
