I guess I shouldn't have joked around so much in my post, lol. Would have made it less confusing but that is basically what I was saying SAM did when I said these this:
PretzleMe wrote: they just aren't merged with SAM the way I am (kind of makes you have to wonder if Papa Ryder died because of a lack of air or because he tore SAM out and gave it to you) so aside from making it possible for me to use the bathroom while cloaked and from greater distances, SAM theoretically can feed other people data the way he feeds it to me.
So the question remains, outside of augmenting you, what else is there (if anything) to where you're asked to repair things near the beginning of the game?
If there was nothing that logically made you more suited for helping in that situation (especially since you weren't even a Pathfinder yet) are there other tasks that you're asked to do that really shouldn't need your attention?

Coincidently, only you had a scan at that time! And you were the nearest person to the console. 😛 But I suspect that scans are not that common either. Ryder has come out as a Recon Specialist. It might be something particular to his position.
Regarding the spoiler:
SpoilerOther implants of other SAMs still had no knowledge, or the same knowledge and experience our SAM has. On a note, anyone from the Hyperion wtih a SAM implant could be taken hostage. But given only Sarah seemed unprotected, the rest is all huddled with you in the Tempest ... the Archon went for her. Or maybe he just wanted to be dramatic and hit where it hurts.- ApprovedAnonymous8 years ago
Why would I had been the only one with a scanner at the time, especially if Ryder isn't the only one with the Omni-Tool? And I wasn't the closest to the console. Lol, I was standing in the doorway and when I found the issue I was behind everyone.
But given the job these people have, I'd suspect they would have to have scanners as a diagnostic tool at the very least. I could have sworn that on the Nexus, two of the people that seem to have similar jobs (Raj and Zarah) and I thought they had been scanning.
Just doesn't seem right that Omni-Tools would be abundant but scanning would be in short supply especially among those that need to repair things.
On the other thing, I could see that. You were the apple of the Achon's eye after all. Why wouldn't he be dramatic? Makes sense.
As far as your SAMmy having more information than others, they're all linked to the same SAM... well except the other races that came from other arks.
Other than that, SAM is samming it up for the entire Nexus from what I could tell though he primarily resides in his node so other than making it so you can dunk on rims that are taller than regulation, everyone with a link to SAM would be drawing from the same knowledge base in theory.
But I do believe that ultimately, you being the focus for him at some point would be the main reason the Archon makes that decision.

There are also the memories. Possibly, the Archon only knew Sarah from all others to have such implant. He might not even know there were other pathfinders.
I still think we should be able to sever his head and make a shrunken head memento to attach to our chesplate for future reference.

Sorry for sounding like a jaded old man(maybe cause I am hehe)... Looking at it objectively, it's cause you are the guy playing the game and it's another fetch quest lol... Just like Liam telling you to go download some movie when he's standing 5 feet away chatting with some security gal. Or later on, having a drink in the bar whilst he pushes the responsibility to ryder. I dont think you need pathfinder access to download a vid. (oops almost forgot the spoiler tag... let me cut and paste this)
SpoilerIt's your sibling cause the story wants you to feel something significant, a little desperation, a little heartache but in my opinion fails miserably cause there wasnt exactly a bond form during the series, sibling is in coma. It would be very different if Liara, Garrus or Tali got captured and tortured and Shepard needs to rush to aid them. Think they played this card a little too soon.. Also doesnt make much sense that the Hyperion was captured by the Kett and the nexus is ok. Guess they just needed the hyperion to crash land so that humanity conveniently gets to inherit Meridian.- ApprovedAnonymous8 years ago
Stop being a jaded old man! Lol, I'm kidding.
But of course there's the fact that you're the player and that explains why when things are left to chance they go a certain way but that doesn't mean that there are not and or shouldn't be in story reasons for things.
For instance, the Archon choosing to do what he does to the person he does it to, after reading some of the comments here it actually makes sense due to the memories and due to him wishing the two of you could have something more than an adversarial relationship. Not quite love but perhaps just spending some time together and you reject that so now he wants to stick it to you badly.
And for plenty of other quests, I can see why they ask me to do it but I suppose I was wondering if there were some, any, or a lot of quests where you felt like the reliance on you made little to no sense or like things were getting out of hand.
Some Person: "Ryder, my leg fell asleep. Can you help me put my shoe on?"
Me: "Oh come on! You passed like 4 people to come over here and ask me that!"
