Something wrong with the Ricochet augment/mod...

I wanted to try so bad the ricochet mod/augmentation on a full auto assault rifle, believing it would have created a nice bulletstorm effect... yet it kinda gives the feeling that the damage output is somehow diminished.

I mean, I tried it on a Revenant which of course doesn't have a high damage per hit to begin with, but it really seems like the bouncing bullets deliver less damage before rebounding from enemies' bodies.

Is it just a wrong perception? Can someone confirm if the Ricochet mod does (or doesn't) affect a weapon damage output?

Thanx in advance.

it doesn't do less damage it does effect the guns accuracy and it also reduces the damage depending on how many times the bullets ricochet. i stopped using it because of how badly it effects accuracy. although it may seem the shots are hitting in reality you might be getting 3 to 5 bullets to hit every 20 shots. its really stupid.

  • I would imagine a ricoched bullet should do less damage than a direct hit. Put would be nice to get a confirmation on this and the numbers.

Yep, I agree that it would make completely makes sense... yet having no such info in the mod description keeps making me unsure.

I have to say, for the way I play, most of the gun mods that change bullets or actions stink....I pretty much now only use things that either boost damage or so other bonus to my Ryder, but pretty much never one that changes much of gun behavior.  I have been pretty disappointed with every mod I have tried for them....Classic heat sink, grenade, ricochet and a few others.....

You're likely correct.  One of the issues I have with this game are the poor descriptions for some of the mods and augmentations.  There are downsides that just aren't mentioned that should have been and sometimes the description isn't very clear on what they actually do.

I'm too refraining to use such mods again, I changed my AR and I'm focusing on damage, stability, ammo and so on...

I don't think that the damage of the bullet is changed by the mod, but it does add some serious bullet drop. I tried it with a sniper rifle, and couldn't hit a target with it, until I shot from the hip, and you could see the bullet falling in a arch into the snow. Maybe this mod works best with close range weapons in close quarter battles.
