Stasis bonus talent removed from ME2:Leg (Shadow Broker DLC)

I play on PS4/5 but I've seen some discussion about this issue on other platforms such as PC as well. Upon successful completion of the Shadow Broker DLC in ME2:Legendary, the Stasis bonus talent does NOT unlock for the player to use subsequently. It appears to have been removed from ME2 as a bonus power. My suspicion is that this was an accidental / unintended oversight due to the removal of the "Catching Up" achievement from the original game, which used to trigger the Stasis bonus unlock. Actually, this looks very similar to how the Spectre VII weapons in ME1:Legendary were initially bugged (presumably due to the removal of the old "Rich" achievement) until the patch two weeks ago.

Any chance that a future patch might add Stasis back to ME2 as a bonus talent?

Or was it intentionally / purposely removed?

  • Same for me, on Xbox Series X. Impossible to choose Stasis as bonus talent after the Shadow Broker mission and invited Liara on the Normandy.

  • @p3321355 I think the remove of stasis was in fact correcting an old problem since Liara was never part of your crew and bonus skills are related to completing loyalty missions.
But yes, it was meant to be removed.

@sweetpoison0011Sorry, but I don't buy this at all. In og ME2, Liara joins your squad for the entirety of the lengthy Shadow Broker DLC, and the player was always rewarded with the Stasis bonus talent for future playthroughs. I realize that a lot of people probably did not notice or care about this omission (because Stasis is a pretty "niche" bonus talent) but why would the devs remove something that was always available to the player? It doesn't seem to make sense to me, not does it seem to be in the spirit of the remaster. The player should still be able to choose or respec to it, if he or she desires (e.g., to use against Scions on the Collector Ship mission).

@p3321355 Lair of the Shadow Broker was/is a DLC for Mass Effect 2 original release. It means only the players who purchase and play the DLC have access to Stasis to begin with ("always available" just doesn't fit). Liara doesn't join your squad, you are assisting in her mission to take down the big ugly thing.
Even so, the bonus skills are, like I said, a reward for completing the loyalty missions for your crew. That alone does not include Liara no matter if you do or not the DLC.

@sweetpoison0011 Still not making any sense to me. By your logic, why didn't the devs remove Flare, Lash, & Dominate as bonus talents in ME3:Leg? After all, by your argument, bonus talents are supposed to be a reward for completing the personal conversations with your crew.

I still do not understand why the devs would have intentionally removed a feature/player choice that was present in og ME2. (I still think it's an oversight.)
  • Yeah, it's pretty obvious that Stasis should be a bonus talent in the Legendary Edition of ME2.

The achievement that specifically granted the bonus talent--Catching Up--was removed in the Legendary Edition along with a couple of other important achievements (Prothean Expert & The Ultimate Sacrifice). This oversight is probably why Stasis is currently missing from ME2.

The Legendary Edition has a hard time with perks granted by achievements & trophies, especially on Xbox where the latest patch completely glitched out Advanced Training in ME2.

  • I mentioned that in my blog about "Legendary Edition Purpose," if I correctly recall we could also transfer the bonus powers from ME2 to ME3 but that option was removed here, if the point of a remaster is to leave all things the same and not change things they really changed various things that were useful to players. I constamly got told this was just a remaster and not a Remake but it's starting to feel more and more like they just modified some things (75% of those in ME1, 25% in ME2 and 0% for ME3 (the dreaded Gunsmith trophy which you have to do a NG+, where there your credits transfer amd not from ME2 to 3, to get a weapon to level 10 in the single player campaing because originally Bioware designed that trophy/achievement to be used in the multiplayer were in one character run the weapons could be leveled to 5 and the game would prefer that one over the single player component which is what we got).

Do the devs check this forum for bug reports? Or is there a better manner in which to submit the feedback hoping that they might see it?

@p3321355 Supposedly feedback and issues reports get passed along to QA and/or the devs, but there's no real way to confirm that an issue is being looked at unless an EA rep decides to respond. You could try contacting support directly, but there's nothing they could tell you other than it being a known issue if you get lucky.
