I have Mass Effect 1 on steam, and exe files saved from when the game was new. I'm trying to install them, and get an installation failed message.
I found a guide suggesting making registry changes to fix this, but it doesn't fix the problem.
Anyone have any other ideas?
The ME1 DLCs should be part of the main download by now, so they should be installed with the main game.
Have you actually checked to see if they are installed?
They were not installed when last installed Mass Effect 1 via Steam, which was apparently in March of this year (I had to reinstall Windows and thus all my games.
I was able to get them installed through the exes by changing a different registry entry than the tutorial that I had found.
So, solved, I guess?
Community Manager@tdog0008 Those files should only be used on Steam versions. This is why that page was created because for the EA app, its all in the app, or within the game. As long as you can access it now after that Windows install, you should be good then, yes.
