"The Fan" bug from the OG trilogy still remains!?!

So Bioware never fixed the bug containing to the Fan mission from ME1 and its outcome in ME2 eh? Let me explain or those of you who don't know. In the OG Trilogy there was a bug in which no matter if you chose all the paragon choices in ME1, Conrad (The Fan) would still insist you shoved a gun in his face when you Meet him in ME2. The fix was to download a save editor and edit the flag in your ME2 save to make it say you chose the paragon options in ME1, even if you did.

I assumed with Bioware fixing bugs and taking from Mods from the OG that this would be fixed. I assumed so especially due to the major Noveria shadow bug on AMD processors being fixed in the Legendary Edition (good on ya Bioware).. Sadly no. I just met Conrad and he believes all three missions turned out exactly the opposite of how they did. You'd think a trilogy being choice-based as its main selling point would fix nay and all the bugs relating to choices they could, but I guess they're still hurting from Anthem eh? lol

  • The good news for PC players is you can actually use a save editor on the ME1 save to edit the flag for Conrad encounter.  Basically, it ticks both paragon and renegade box on how you dealt with him, so you just have to untick one box and save the file again.  Once you fix it after it is set, it is done for the rest of the save files, or you can just modify the very last save that imports before importing.

Consoles....sorry, don't know of anything that can be done.  I know old editor worked on Xbox saves, but I don't think it does on MELE save editor...nexus mods has the editor if someone wants to look for it.

  • You sure is a bug?

I always pick paragon lines regarding Conrad, he always accuse me in ME2 and always apologise in ME3 for making false accusations on Nos Astra.

@sweetpoison0011That is because by the time ME3 came out, BW was aware of the bug in ME2. For continuity's sake, they acknowledged it by making Conrad's ME3 lines reflect on this bug canonically as "false accusations".

So if they wanted to fix the ME2 paragon-renegade flag bug, they would have also needed to record a new voice line for Conrad's ME3 appearance.

I still don't see it as bug as long as the story pans out.

Also in ME2 Sheppard face a lot of accusations including the one about sacrificing the fleet to save the council even if Sheppard had no authority over the alliance fleet and the order "save the Destiny Ascension with all cost" was issued by Hackett.

The only alteration which I was hopping for was to

    Spoiler
see Udina with a bruised eye during final dialogue - assuming you choose to unlock Normandy from his office. After all I think Udina missed all the invasion thing because he was lying on the floor after such well deserved "light out" punch

@YamiSkully I believe they kept it for how ME3 plays out.

All they have to do is disable one line of dialog in ME3 and the consistency is fixed.

  • @Fred_vdp Still works fine as is. Plays in to the lunacy of the Conrad character. Ruins the immersion of they "fixed" it. Some things are best left as is.
