Toughness Härte( in German)
In the Character Selection Screen you can click on the "?" an there is written on some Chars they have "Toughness". Batarian, Krogan, Turian and the Asari Justikar have it. What does it mean?

Well Krogan has toughness/melee and Turian only has toughness.
I'm going with toughness being a higher default weight capacity or health"
I agree with ajhere, the toughness means that you take less damage from your enemies, more resistant compare to others characters.
Build yourself a Krogan Vanguard
Level Up to give him maximum Biotic Charge, Barrier, Battlemaster, & Rage
Arm him with an N7 Pirahna
Have fun !! Run around the map charging, headbutting, & roaring with laughter.
This is a good example of "toughness"
