They would also make more money just releasing a new game on consoles and pc, so that is what they do. That is what the board of directors tells them is okay to do.

Just so you know VR edition does not mean massive profits.
The pool of VR players is very small compared to consoles and pc. As you can see even AC creed vr did not have great sales, so without there being a large enough pool of VR users (ON the same vr and not spread apart to 6 different vr headsets they would need to mod it individually for)
There is also a big difference between a modder that specifically knows how to make vr work for games, and a corporation agreeing to spend a large amount of money to hire someone to possibly make a vr version, if it does work, long term vr support bc it will be needed. Big corporations don't just do let's make VR okay done. There is a board of directors it would have to go through, they would have to do marketing to see if it value is even worth the cost (which it probably isn't) and how much it would cost to hire developers that specialize in this. It's harder than "let's make vr, okay done boss."
VR players be entitled, without doing any basic research.
Someone clearly hasn't seen the gem that is Resident Evil 4's VR release for the Quest.

I agree VR would work best as a spinoff. There is a multiplayer VR Star Trek game called Bridge Crew where everyone has a position on the bridge and has to work together to complete missions. I haven't played it, but I like the concept. I think something like that could work in a Mass Effect setting.
While that would be a strong argument for me getting a VR headset finally I cant help but doubt they would risk an established trilogy trying such a large undertaking.
If they reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally wanted to do it then I imagine it would be a small mass effect VR spinoff. like.... we talking you play on a colony or ship that is being attacked by rachni during the rachni wars and the whole game focuses on that one location. Then maybe a brief trip to the citadel, probably very horror orientated or exploration based.
A game completely isolated from everything else so if it flops it can be swept under the rug and not impact anything else in the franchise.
In short, dont get your hopes up for ME VR anytime soon.
Even if all they do is super wide cinematic 3d experience, it would still be more cool. I've played a lot of games not meant for VR via VORPX and best experience is that, feels like you are playing in your own private IMAX in 3D.

Well, as I said, the complicating factor is that the conversation system uses cinematic angles. I googled the mod, and while it's impressive, it's limited to exploration (the Normandy and hub worlds). Combat and conversations still play out as standard, which is why I think the game would need to be built from scratch for VR.
@Fred_vdpAnd yet somebody else has already modded the regular game for VR so, if a mere fan can do it, I don't think it would be that terribly complicated. I also don't think that it would matter if the cutscenes remained 2D as long as you can play in VR.

I don't see how they could make that happen since it's a third person game with cinematic camera angles in cutscenes. If they want to do VR Mass Effect, I think it will have to be first person and built from the ground up as a VR game, kinda like Half-Life: Alyx.
