Weapons Mods Bug

Hi there,

I noticed for a while now that a intermittent problem is happening.

Not all mods register when you pick them up, starting from the Mars Mission.

Now, I fixed the problem by deleting the latest 11MB patch but in doing so I can't take advantage of the rich and extensive changes and fixes done to date.

I looked around, I am not the only one with this problem so I would like to know if there is a known fix, is there a fix planned (this has been going on for quite a while and a few patches went by without addressing the problem).

I am experiencing on the XBox but I can see it happening across platforms and even started thinking it was deliberate like "random loot" but if that was the case would be nice to know so people do not get stressed over it.

Hoping to get an answer soon.

Thank you!

Max

  • saw that there was a recent patch. did this address this bug at all? i assume no, since EA doesn't care when they already have your money.

  • just checked.. started a new game.. got up to palaven and the bug showed up again.... really EA and Bioware.. you guys suck. all these years and you still haven't fixed this damn bug when so many people have already told you a bunch of times that your DLC's have broken the weapon mods. since this was in the Bioware forums.. people have been telling you what's causing it, and yet you guys keep ignoring. not a single response from a staff.

  • since EA/Bioware don't care.. i've gone ahead and installed this mod as a last resort that fixes this issue: http://www.moddb.com/mods/mother-of-all-mods

it gives you access to all weapon mods to buy, and it also fixed picking them up during missions. this is only for the singleplayer, so it's safe to have installed for those who also play a lot of multiplayer.

I realised that, when I had picked up the first gun I found on Mars (which was the M-4 Shuriken, as an Infiltrator), I had simply pressed circle to continue when, in previous playthroughs, I had always changed my loadout then and there.
I restarted my game, loaded the save I had made at the very beginning of the mission, and played up to where I found the M-4 in the security station. This time, I changed my loadout and cycled through all of the weapons of every category so that none were marked as 'new'. After doing this, I continued on my way and was able to pick up every weapon mod during the rest of that mission.

I was becoming very frustrated with this bug. I tried your trick and it worked for me too.

Thanks a lot for the tip.

I am happy to see that a solution I posted earlier has helped some people and I'd like to come back and say that I tried it again on my new game, without deleting any of the game data and installing fresh, and the same solution has worked this time as well. So, to clarify, when you pick up your first weapon on Mars, change your loadout and cycle through all of the weapons to make sure that none are marked as 'new'.

  • Sad to say I tried this solution today on the PC and it didn't work. No mods or DLC installed either, so that's not the cause of the bug. Just a broken game.
