Weird mail.

So I got this weird mail today. I'm guessing its a phishing mail.

Uhuh, sounds legit.

According to various sources, this email seems to be legit. However, as I have pointed out to customer service (which has supposedly reported this to their superiors), this sort of practice is highly unusual and possibly dangerous. This is exactly the sort of mail that scam artists/phishing mails take advantage of and could result in serious threats to account security.

I would suggest anyone who has received this mail or similar to report this to customer service as well.

Also, logging in to the game mentioned through Origin should supposedly do the same thing, however this is not even suggested or mentioned in the email.

    Well, if you already did logon to ME3 you did what was necessary and you can ignore this or any other mail.

    Still, if you receive more such mails, feel free to report them again.  

    You also can contact EA directly if you want to. If you are not from the US change the country in the top right corner.

    If you have trouble with the contact attempt look at this guide.

    Can do, not sure how that gives you more info on anything though.
    EA would never send mails like this, so it might be useful to others to know not to interact with it.

    Hi @d4rkpink,

    Please, check if the email was sent from ea@e.ea.com. If so, then yes, it's ours and you can click without any problems.

    You say that, but it's relatively easy for phishers to spoof that mail.

    And if it really is an official mail, I would like an explanation as to why it would be necessary for me to click a link in an email to somehow "prove" I'm the owner of a game that's been in my Origin library for years and I have played through multiple times. And am playing right now as a matter of fact without any issue whatsoever. (servers seem fixed now)

    Did you even read the mail before giving that advice?

    I honestly don't think that's safe advice to give from your end.

    Well, is the mail from "ea@e.ea.com"?

    If so the mail is legit. (You can spoof a lot, but not the address the email is coming from)

    You also don't have to follow the link in the email, just log on to ME3 via Origin (As mentioned in the mail)  that will have the same effect.

    Yeah, it is. Hence the reason of posting it here in the first place. If it was obvious spam I wouldn't have bothered asking =]

    I also noticed I have the exact same mail a day earlier as well, citing a day earlier in the need to login. 

    I have logged into ME3 on Origin multiple times since and before either of those mails in the past days. There shouldn't have been a second mail if it's legit.

    Sure thing. I would still like to point out though, that such methods (click link in email to verify anything) are highly unusual and more often than not spam or phishing mails.

    If the mails really are legit as supposed, I would suggest to EA staff to take a serious second look at that method or formulate the issue more extensively.

    I'll open a ticket on it, thank you for your response on the matter.
