What Andromeda Multiplayer has Done right.
I have been vocal about my criticisms of the multiplayer on these forums, but I haven't expressed what I like about the multiplayer, so here we go.
1. Characters
I see a lot that people think the characters aren't distinct from another, but I don't agree. I feel as if every character (except for male/female humans but obviously) feels different from others. I think the only valid thing is that since powers are underwhelming, they can all feel samey since they don't pack their own individual punches, but I can feel the differences and I like them.
2. "Feel"
It's a few different factors, but the game feels good (atleast on bronze where it's balanced correctly, but that can be easily fixed). The controls are good, easy to memorize and not weird to use. Jump packs are something I never knew I wanted in Mass Effect, now that I have them I love them, and have a hard time playing ME3 multiplayer without them. Every gun sounds unique and good. Each enemy race and playable race feels unique. An overall good experience, atleast in bronze.
3. No Fundamental Issues
I don't see this talked about much, but it is a huge deal. Every problem with multiplayer can be patched. Nothing is really a "core" issue. Guns suck above silver? Buff em. Powers suck and have high cooldowns? Buff em. Enemies are bullet sponges? Nerf em. The game should have come out in a better state BUT no problem can't be fixed.
4. Free DLC
We have already gotten a free character and getting some sort of event tomorrow for free of charge. How many games come out these days with free DLC? Not many at all. Let's hope it continues and we have a great road ahead of us like in ME3.
Thank you Bioware for delivering what is atleast a good template to be fixed and already delivering some fixes tomorrow. Even though I am vocal about criticism, I love the game and hope for it's success.
