What's the point in using profiles?

we are limited to 3 powers because of console peasants with like no buttons on their pads and Bioware extreme lazyness to make normal UI for PC which would allow to make use of more abilites.
DA:I suffered from same problem. In late game u can use like 10 abilitites that do good combos but could have only 6 active bcz consoles cant handle that much buttons...
I always feel really limited with the amount of powers available on each profile, end up doing the same thing all the time, Soldier with a bit of tech to restore health.
I barely ever use any of the other profiles due to the cooldown that happens every time you switch, sometimes I may switch between encounters but always end up going back to the standard Soldier one... just one more skill would have been nice so we could vary our playstyle just a bit.
