Why do supply stations have to run out of things like grenades?

I love my grenades. Not as much as ME3 which was grenade heaven. I'm sort of over supply stations having limits on things like grenades. I've been playing a lot of classes with grenades lately. Try to build them up so I can get a max of 5 grenades, find them particularly useful to get me out of tight situations when using the sniper rifle for example. Like most players I zip around and refill my supplys between waves. I also have my favorite sniping spots and dont like to travel too far to refill ammo. I know its like ME3 but I'm a bit over running out of grenades and having to trapes all over the map to find a fresh supply. If I make a choice to use a grenade centred character I should not be disadvantaged in refreshing my supply. Just a thought.

  • Endless grenades? Lets not go there.

    True, cell refills could be a bit more frequent, but should still have a realistic limit.

    You could sorta get around this, by augmenting a weapon with grenade launcher or sticky grenade launcher AND vintage heatsink. I think, haven't tried if the augments are compatible, anyone?

    Or just use one of the grenade type weapons already existing (scorpion, venom or falcon atleast).

    I'm not sure I get this one, there are tons of forward stations spread out over each world space and it takes no time at all to zip over to one in your Nomad, I have a character setup to be focused on Combat skills with a - [Concussive Shot] recharge / [Flak Cannon] x6 / [Omni Grenade] x5 - build and I rarely run out 😉

    I do also have another weapon if in need of laying down some suppressive fire, it is a crafted [N7 Piranha] I have fitted with an [Sticky Grenade] augment, basically turning it into an automatic rapid-fire grenade launcher, depending on your build it will have a 5-8 clip size (default clip size goes down with when you add the augment) and can be highly effective in a tight spot :eahigh_file:

    It is to prevent players from spamming hard hitting consumables and spraying excessive ammo without penalty from one location the whole bout. It is part of the challenge. Good resource management is a trait of a talented player. We have ammo packs in a pinch. I am in favor of mechanics that keep the fight fluid. Improvisation keeps you sharp and inspires new tactics and strategies.

    This was a mechanic from ME3 MP.

    It makes sense from both a game design perspective and realism perspective.

    In real life, resource management is key to winning wars - most often in the past when armies got beaten out, it's because their supplied ran out or were cut off.  It's a key war tactic if you want to disable your enemy you have to stop their resource flow, and likewise, you have to preserve and conserve your own.  That can be applied to both games;

    ME3 the Reapers were hitting everywhere, resources had to be rationed.  We're in Andromeda now, supplies are low, workforce and manufacturing is still low (presumably), we don't have infinite resources to fight wars, we were barely prepared for combat as it is.

    I recommend not going over 4 in your supply since you can only get a max of 4 from a supply station. Get more damage or something instead of that one extra.

    But if stations had infinite grenades you could just sit on one and spam grenades infinitely. Cell powers hit harder and have no cooldown. That's why you're limited in the amount you can carry at once.

    Also, in campaign it's kind of irrelevant because your carry weight gets ridiculous but in mp if you build your character around cell powers you can ignore carry weight, a huge advantage over many other classes.
