360 or One Controller ? Need detailed info.

So I knew that 2015 and Payback both support the Xbox one controller on PC. Now myself I have a perfectly good new Xbox 360 Controller that worked great for the most part on 2016. Same for payback but I do have a weird issue with throttle linearity on the right trigger. It isn't game breaking but when im trying to hold the trigger mid way for part throttle I find some cars don't respond to this  mid way point. Its ether full throttle or nothing. Will buying a Xbox one controller cause me no issues over the 360 controller i have now ? Like i say the 360 controller isn't supported but I  use it with out issue minus the right rigger deal. Since both controllers are close why is the Xbox one the only one supported. Any one ?

  • I think you're correct, after trying it myself, I've found that the input from the trigger isn't able to maintain a constant throttle position, no matter what car you're in. Pulling the trigger half way, rather than holding revs constant, just means slower acceleration, and even on half trigger, you will eventually hit top speed, you'll just take longer to get there. Even during the drag race warm up, it's quite difficult to hold the throttle in a constant state. Unfortunately I think that's down to it being an arcade racer, rather than a sim. 2 buttons, 1 to go and 1 to stop.

  • I've been using a 360 controller on my PC and haven't had any issues with ½ throttle on the cars I've driven in the game so far. Which cars are you having trouble with?

Sorry for the late reply my friend , my bad for not checking in sooner here.

Supra in the old school Porsche in nfs 2015 is one example. Try and hold the throttle mid way and the gas just keeps going. It isn't linear at all. Some others as well if you hold the right trigger half way the car will rev half way others just keep climbing to red line and one cant hold a partial steady throttle that make sense ?. So far the 350 is the only one i have issues with in Payback, im still about half way through the game and wont really start buying and trying all the cars until I have finished the game so i cant say for other cars just yet there.

I ended up borrowing a friend Xbox one controller from him off his Xbox one console and tried it. Same deal. ☹️

I tend to agree with you. Tried again last night with the Xbox one PC controller and still same deal. At this point i am in agreement that it is the game.
