Better Story next time

With NFS 2015 EA tried again to put a bit of story inside a racing game.

But the direction with the last two games is too "wannabe youth style" like.

I played NFS 2015 and these characters felt all so forced and stupid to me.

With Payback it seems to be the same after watching reviews and some gameplays. The way they keep talking while driving really annoying..

Next to the card upgrades, the forced winning of each race and that cops are not present in the open world, the story was a big reason why i won't buy Payback.

So I thought it would be awesome if we as fans could suggest the way we want the next story to be.

My basic idea, which I hope many of you will comment on an improve/adapt is following:

You start playing the game as the smallest of 3 brothers. The father is unknown. In kind of a "tutorial" you brothers teach you how to drive and tune/customize your car.

The oldest brother has started a career as a professional race driver like with NFS Shift and you will have your first races on a closed racetrack. The other brother is more for tuning and street races to which he takes you to later. In the first street race you take, one opponent rams you against an oncoming car (in a cutscene) close before the finisline in a "one on one" duell.

The youngest brother survives the crahs, but is in a coma. Now the game switches to the other two brothers.

To support his family financially (USA Hospital bills are crazy i have heared :D), the oldest tries to rise up in pro racing (like in NFS Shift with different championships).

The other brother goes on a "hunting spree" with illegal races to find the races responsible for the crash.

The hunt takes you through different parts of the map. Here i would include offroad-racing for some parts.

Out of the different approach of the brothers after the accident results a conflict between them.

The older one doesn't want the younger to get deeper in the illegal scenenot wanting to loose another brother.

The other one criticises the older one for doing nothing to take revenge on the driver responsible for the crash.

I would split the story in several chapters. For example after each championship or next location on the hunt the two brothers meet/talk and you see that they are drifting away from each other more and more.

*SPOILER*

In the end the younger brother finds the driver and takes a race were he rams him down a hill. The driver survives badly wounded and the player has the choice to kill him or walk away.

Meanwhile the youngest brother(who was in a coma) dies at the hospital

Therefore two endings result:

- Killing -> at the funeral the two brothers meet and the oldest says he has no brother anymore (walking away to never see his brother again)

             -> the younger brother continues illegal racing, but turns more and more into an drug and alcohol addict (last scene he gets arrested from the cops while driving completly drunk and                   on drugs)

- Walking away -> after the funeral they all go back to their family house for dinner (last scene the camera zooms out of the house into the sky)

*SPOILER END*

With these separate playstyles i would split the type of races as following:

- Pro racer:

-> Sprint/Lap-races

-> drift

-> drag like in NFS ProStreet

Street:

-> speed traps (like in NFS MostWanted)

-> sprint/lap

-> knockout (last per lap gets eliminated)

-> special action sequences when racing a key character in the story

-> all these race types with optional cops

Freeroam:

-> freeroaming is with the younger brother doing the hunt

-> cops and escapes are like in MostWanted

-> the additional things to do are actually quite nice in PayBack already

Tuning:

-> optical tuning seems to be really awesome already

-> performance tuning should be like the old NFS MostWanted. No random factor.

Additional changes:

Physics:

->The crash-physics should be more like burnout. When you hit a car frontal or sideways i don't want my car to remain driveable

->Of course you need to find a sweet-spot between annoying and realism, but at the moment it is definitely not enough realism.

-> i don't want a crash camera of it though. And resetting the car manually has to be possible then.

Map:

-> I'm not a fan of too big maps.

-> they hard extremly hard to fill with interesting things and driving +30min from one end to another is just too big for me.

-> I prefer a decent sized map with more details, better graphic and smoother performance

OK that's it for the moment :D

Please leave some feedback or add your thoughts to help make the next "Need For Speed" - Games the way we want them to be.

Thanks

Best regards
