Black Screen at startup in Need For Speed Rivals

Hi.

I got Need For Speed Rivals as a christmas gift and I had installed it successfuly and it worked fine, except for the super slow FPS lock at only 30 FPS (That Should Be Fixed Too!!!). I then done a re-format of my computer (Wiping everything off of it) and I re-installed Need For Speed Rivals. When I tried to open it it was just a black screen and I could not do anything, there was not even sounds or controls. I tryed looking up fixes for it but none of them worked. I tryed ALT+ENTER but with no luck, just a windowed black screen. I then tried to get the Ultimate Cop Pack that came with the game and I used Disk 2 to install it on the the game (I think it was the Cop Pack). Then the game would not even open and I am not prepared to do a fourth re-format of my system. I have spent ages trying to fix it but with no luck. If anybody can help me fix it that would be appreciated. I am only 12 years old and tried everything to fix this issue. If this is not fixed I would like to get a refund unless it is fixed. Please reply as soon soon as possible. Thanks.

  • I'm gonna do another reformat and see if that might fix it - maybe something I did after the reformat caused the game to have a black screen...

Hi, it sounds like your machine might need more updates after the reformat. As a first step I'd check for driver updates for your graphics card.

I have already updated everything as the reformat was done at christmas and I have been using it for a while after the reformat.

Do you remember if there were any changes made between it working and when it started to fail. There could be driver corruption too. It might be worth removing your existing card drivers and installing a fresh set from your manufacturer's site.

Be sure to download the drivers as a first step, as once you uninstall the existing set, your machine will revert to extremely low quality video mode, so it can make website navigation tricky.

If your card is Nvidia check here: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

    If it's AMD, check here:http://support.amd.com/en-us/download

I have tried as you insisted but with no luck. The game is still stuck with it's black screen.

Yea, the reformat must have caused some corrupt system files. I done another reformat and now it is working. Thanks for all your help and I wish you luck in having a fun time and life. 😕mileyhappy:
