I have the same issue, and I see several posts here about the same thing but no response from EA. I just need to know if it is a server ir client issue so I can stop trying to figure out what may be wrong on my end.
I have the same issues, only on xbox 360, I have talked with a couple online tech support people, and a gentleman over the phone about this, and it seems to be somewhere in the client issue. I have no problems with online play for any other ea game, just this nfs title (don't own any others at the moment) but bf4, skate, skate 2, I have no issues with online play

Can you confirm to me if you are still unable to login as of today, January 5th? If so, please also post on which console you are playing.
I have tried couple minutes ago. Still nothing, error code 40010000. Im using Xbox360, game first played 31.12.2015. There is site with achievements tracking (trueachievements.com), last online achievements from X360 NFS Rivals was unlocked 28.11.2015, so i think problem starts in the beginning of December. Sorry for my English.
