Casino Row race is impossible.

Need for speed payback. I've been playing through the story, beating all the races easily. Now I've gotten to a point where I need to beat the Casino Row drag race to move forward. No matter how high I level up my car I cannot beat the AI. The recommended lvl is 140 and my lvl 220 camaro gets smoked every time. Is anyone else having trouble with this race?
