Change the RNG for speed cards

Lately i've been getting a little bit frustrated with the speed card system we currently have in the game. It all seems to be getting down to how lucky are you feeling today.

If you win a race it is just luck of the draw what you get. When you visit a shop it is again luck of the draw which cards there are available to you. And than we have maybe the biggest joke of all, the trade-in system. Here you can lock one choice and hope you get the right part or the right brand.

I'm not saying the whole trade-in system is a joke or anything, but i think we need some changes to it. Like keep the base cost 3 tokens but give us the chance to at least lock two choices instead of the one we get now. And if that means that I have to pay an extra token for that extra choice i'm fine with that. In that way you can even make it that you can lock all three choices for 5 tokens.

I think this will solve the whole problem with getting the right parts from the right brands so you can really make the car you want.

What do you guys think of this?

I think the biggest joke here is that EA claims this is not gambling.

  • Let us look at the definition of Gambling:  "play games of chance for money"

Was money exchanged?  No.  So your statement is false.

And remember, "Joke" is your opinion, 1000's of others would disagree.

  • Hi Slynexes, I agree with you that the modifications in 2015 were much better than in Payback.  With that said, I find both systems are working well and I am able to tweak my vehicles enough to be able to get through the missions.  Some of the missions are harder than others.  I expect that in a game.  I don't want to just walk through a game.

Maybe in the next installment of NFS, they will bring back the customization that many of us liked in 2015.

CROM No it's gambling. You just took the first definition off of google. Please tell me you know that there are usually multiple definitions for a given word.

Another definition: Gambling is the wagering of money or something of value (referred to as "the stakes") on an event with an uncertain outcome with the primary intent of winning money or material goods. Gambling thus requires three elements be present: consideration, chance and prize.

I'm not saying that I can't get my cars upgraded enough to be able to win the races.

What i am saying is that I can't customise my cars in the way that I want to because of the RNG that is related with this speed card system.

    As an example.

I love my evo IX a lot for all of the offroad races.

But i like it the best with 3 speed card from Carbon and 3 from Nextech because this gives the car the best feel for my playstyle.

With the current system it is really hard to keep this ( for me optimal) setup because it's really difficult to get those cards.

And that is why i would like to see some changes in the current system.
