Does Shift 2: Unleashed work better on Windows 10?

Shift 2 was working halfway-decent on Windows 7 with occasional crashes, but on Windows 8.1, I could not even start a single race because the game crashes every time before I start an event. Has anyone been able to get this game running on Windows 10?

The game wasn't designed for Windows 10, but most games that run fine on Windows 7 should also work on Windows 10.

Couple of things to take into account:

    • If you performed an upgrade to Windows 10 as opposed to a clean installation then you will need to uninstall and reinstall Origin, Need for Speed and your graphics driver
    • Try running the game in compatibility mode
    • Try running your system in a clean boot to see if background programs are causing conflicts

If the issue persists you could also reply to this thread with a dxdiag so that I can have a further look at your system. Do take into account that I cannot guarantee that Shift 2 will run flawlessly on W10 but it is definitely worth taking a look at.

Well, I'm running Shift 2 on WIndows 10 and it's pretty smooth. Recently it does crash randomly during the first time I run the game after I boot into my system, but if I launch it for the second time there's absolutely no problem (although if I reboot my system, or turn it off then turn it on again, it will crash again, also just for once). However this should be caused by the recent system updates and new softwares I installed, since it never happened before. Overall, Shift 2 runs pretty well on Windows 10.

Like so many others, I'm getting game crash to desktop as any race loads in career mode.  Quick race works fine but the game crashes loading a race in career mode.

This is with Win10 64 bit

Yes, the game crashes on Windows 10. I have found that it works better by running a program that came with my Asus GTX 960 called Tweak GPU. In it is a program called game booster which selects the best appearance for games, Turns off Windows services and defrags system memory.

  • Well how did u get it to work with windows 10?

I cant even get it to install on windows 10 and everything is updated just cant  get origin to work either.

where are the old days when you could buy a game and install it and play Seems those days are gone

The thing just keeps updating and wont install
