Engine Swaps. Broken ?

The new feature of  'Engine Swaps' available in NFS Heat is either slightly broken ! Or I am a blithering idiot...

How come I find a Forged 3.8l V6 available for DB11 and not for Nissan GT-R '17 ? While for the DB11 there are two stock engines available with the only difference between them being that one has a PRO Turbo Charger and the other a Super+.

Therefore, this raises two questions:

1. If there's a higher performance or forged version of it, where's the 5.2l V12 I so dearly need for my DB11 ? For I haven't found it yet...

2. Is this a bug, a choice or incompetence ?

  • A lot of engine swaps dont make sense. The firebird has the 3.8L V6 as its be-all-end-all engine, despite being the first mass produced turbocharged V8.

The 67 Camaro's best engine swap is a Mercedes Benz V8. When I see real engine swaps in the real world, people do what you're thinking of. Swapping to the manufacturers bigger and better engines.

Even if they just added a stock engine in as an ultimate or elite part I'd be fine. Idk why a Chevy 350 is seemingly capped at 1239hp, those monsters are routinely used for alcohol drag races, making 2000 sometimes even 3000hp.

  • @The_MAGG0T I wouldn't think too much into the Firebird V8. It was garbage in reality and the Turbo was just a plaster for the issues at the time.

As for GM 350s making much more than 1000hp, you'd be hard pressed. Those dragsters are usually something like 10liters, 900cubes etc.

The funny cars yes, but not all of them. I believe Tom Bailey's 69 Sick Seconds does 1/4 mile in 6.4 seconds and it has a Miller's Racing Engines 416, same blue prints as the Chevy. I have a book from 1968 that describes a Chevy 302 being able to achieve 900 hp with just a blower and some tuning. The book was out out by Chevy.

As for the firebird, yeah its engine was no where near as good with restrictive economy laws being put in place in the 70's, however the machine itself is still steeped in legend. Let me ask you this, what Chevy race car has an RB26 swapped into it? It just doesnt make sense. We need manufacturer specific swaps as well, a lot of us are brand loyalists

  • Honestly, I'm ok with some of the 'odd' swaps
a 4.7 low revving V8 in the A45 AMG which makes the most power

Mclaren V8 in the new civic and a few other things

Flat 6 in a few things

    Ferrari V8 in the E46

The only problem I have with the GTR 3.8 V6 is that it sounds terrible like the ecoboost aswell

LamboV10/V12 in the Audi RS5 (that I get)

although there does seem to be a lack of engines for over ~1200 HP

There really is a lack of power and power rating with all the other blocks. Being able to decide between a really extravagant swap and the stock engine without a detriment to power would be the ultimate customization that NFS is known for. I dont want them to remove the swaps, but rather add one that appear to fans of the original car and power plant
