It is currently my favourite driving game, they often get quite boring for me but this one keeps pulling me back! Sadly though there are large bits that just feel like the game just isn't quite finished, bits that could be smoothed out and corrected to make it perfect. None of these are particularly major issues, but just all the little details that make the game less immersive and cause some frustration.
So, if it still feels like a Beta and has issues like a Beta, why not give feedback as if it were a Beta! I'll keep this post updated with anything else I, or others, discover. If you've spotted something thats not quite right, then reply with it as others will probably have experienced it too and want it sorted. Keep in mind that these are performance suggestions, not suggestions of other features the game could add (yes we're all still hoping for a manual transmission and wheel support update!) but rather issues with the current features.
Thanks!
Car Wrecking
- Sometimes when crashing into something head on you spawn head on onto the object, other times you're back on the road moving.
- If your car rolls of flips the wreck mechanic starts from when you land, even if you land on your wheels and ready to move on, it takes a few seconds to register that you've wrecked and then the wreck cam kicks in.
- On a couple of occasions I've wrecked in a narrow section and have been spawned in an invisible box (where you're not supposed to be), such as on the train tracks then spawning on the platform unable to get off.
- It can take a few seconds after a crash for it to register and start the wreck cam, seeing as the cam takes a long time, those extra seconds before hand do drag it out a bit too much.
- When the AI have a crash that would initiate the wrecking cam you us, they just seem to keep driving with no delay. Crashing in a race (say Component Parts) can mean going from 1st to struggling to catch up at the back of the race, so it would be nice to have the AI face the same time penalty we do.
AI
- They seem to be driving tanks. If you bash into them, you come off worse. If they bash into you, you come off worse. They can be pushing against you and you'll eventually spin out, if you push against them, they'll not budge but you'll spin out. Would be nice to balance it out a bit!
- In sprint races they're pretty much glued to the race line, no matter what speed they take the corner they'll stick to it, even if you have to slow down as its a sharp bend, they'll come flying past without an issue. I've seen Lambos go into a sharp left corner, get a little skid on and exit it perfectly at just under 200mph, we'd go flying into a wall and wreck if we tried that.
- Amy. Whilst yes she is playing the Build Queen, but in no way can that 180SX be that good. It'll take the aforementioned left corner at over 200, no skid and be out the other side without braking or a drop in speed. A bit too OP.
- Drift races. Whilst I understand that if I crash into them whilst trying to drift, then yes by all means take away my point chain. However, say you're doing a Touge, out the front of the pack with a 20,000+ chain going when suddenly you get T-bone'd by an AI that doesn't know what its doing. Pretty damn frustrating. Yes I get that you need to keep an eye on other drivers etc. etc. but being punished for their bad driving feels wrong.
Difficulty
- Sprint races seem alright for the difficulty, the hard ones can be pretty hard sometimes if you make a mistake. However the drift ones are just far too easy. There'll be trails where you need 20,000 and you can get that easily on one corner and the speedwall will be full of 300,000+ scores. Probably worth upping the pass score on them.
- Component Parts. This race has caused discussions on Reddit (along with some less helpful, albeit accurate, suggestions) and a post up on here too. It seems most are unable to beat it without lucking out on the AI crashing. Whilst I'm all for having a challenge, racing in a maxed out (level 50 so all unlocks apart form those from Amy's missions) car (tried all the 7 most expensive cars with various handling setups) and constantly coming 2nd or 3rd thanks to that crazy 180SX has caused people to question its sudden difficulty spike and near impossible-ness.
These are just a few things we've noticed that could be smoothed out and made a bit more user-friendly to give the game a finished feel, at the moment it still feels like a beta, and what with all the Known Issues and Alerts and various other major issues floating around (like I currently fail every snapshot I upload and have now lost everyone on my speedwall,), having paid a large amount for the game it would be nice to have one that feels finished. If a movie were to be released and there were bits where people had forgotten their lines, it was poorly edited, or scenes were missing then there would be uproar. A game should be no different.
It does seem like the guys and gals here at EA are listening and taking points on board in order to resolve them. So lets make full use of having an approachable community team and make this game perfect!
