Frame Rate Drops in NFS Most Wanted PC

I'm suffering from the same issue. The update didn't change a single thing for me. My specs are definitely not the best; AMD A6 3400m with 8gb or ram, but Hot Pursuit runs fine on my laptop, and they supposedly use similar engines.
I run BF3 on Ultra @ 1920x1080 and continuously get 70FPS+.
Running NFS on High produces massive frame rate spazzes at random times. I have turned down shadows and lighting to Medium which seems to have calmed down the problem.
Running a brand new Alienware X51 with;
i7 3.4GHZ quad core
8GB RAM
GTX 660 1.5GB GPU
MY game updated too, but has not fixed any issues as far as I can tell. Talked to EA support on the phone today, totally clueless. The lady was telling me I couldn't handle it because it was Frostbite 2 (false!) despite that I can max out Battlefield 3.
