Headlights,Taillights,and Requests

Hello Everyone,

Alright so I have been playing NFS:Payback since it was released earlier for those who purchased the Deluxe Edition. I have been enjoying the game for the most part. There are some things that I don't like compared to NFS '15,but that's not why I am here. As the title says, something that has bugged the hell out of me is the headlights and taillights. Here is my reason why they bug me so much. First off,one of the cars we get at the start of the game is Jess's Dodge Charger. Now anyone who has customized her Charger will know it can be either a '68,'69,or '70. I have Jess's Charger as a 1970 because I love the hide-a-way headlights. However, this is where the headlights and taillights bother me. It does not matter what time of day you're driving they are always on,and the only time there off is if you shut off the car. Now this completely defeats the purpose of the hide-a-way headlights feature in NFS:Payback,as well as any other vehicle that has them. The Lamborghini Diablo and the Mazda RX-7 are a couple others I can think of off the top of my head. Quite honestly this is something that shouldn't have been overlooked during development. If these hide-a-away headlights were going to be a feature and part of customization since the beginning, then the headlights and taillights should've worked properly. It is simple things like this that can make or break a video game that is about racing. The headlights and taillights in NFS:Payback should work properly not only considering we have hide-a-away headlights, but also because we have a day and night cycle unlike the previous NFS release. Having them simply turning on between 8pm - 9pm and turning off between 8am - 9am would be fine. Or if at all possible make them where we can manually turn them on or off if there are any buttons not being used. If it's possible where we can turn them on or off manually, the inclusion of high beams would be nice. One press of the button turns them on,a second press turns on the high beams, and a third press turns them off. But I would be quite happy if they just turned on and off on their own at preset times during the day and night cycle. One other thing I've also noticed is some of the custom headlight options don't project light onto the road in front of you. An example would be the dark tinted headlights on the Plymouth Barracuda. So I am here bringing this to the NFS development teams attention in hopes this gets corrected. If you agree with me on this, please make your voice heard. The more people we have backing this, the better chance we have at seeing this corrected.

Alright, now I have some requests I would like to see become a reality in NFS:Payback as part of an update. Just a few customization options for a couple different cars. My first request is for the 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air. We have the proper trim, grill, and tailights for the '55. Now I know for a fact we have the correct taillights for the 1956 and if I'm not mistaken the correct grill for the 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air. However,we do not have the proper side trim for the '56 and that is my request. It is very similar to the following years side trim, the very popular 1957. I was a little disappointed when I found out that the 1956 side trim wasn't available when the grill and taillights are. I would absolutely love to see the '56 side trim added to the Chevrolet Bel Air customization. Here is a website link showing the side trim I am talking about. It doesn't look like it would be a difficult thing to add as it's rather simple. All the side panels (front fenders, doors, rear fenders) are all the same and already in the game. But this is my request for the Chevrolet Bel Air and I haven't forgotten about the website link.

My second request is for the Plymouth Barracuda and was quite surprised it wasn't available in the customization. We have the correct grill for the 1971 Cuda as well as the rear spoiler. However, the rear window louvers are missing and I would love to see them added. Anyone who loves the rare '71 Cuda knows that the rear spoiler and rear window louvers are a must. I've added the most accurate "billboards" to mine as well as a vinyl top. But I'm missing those rear window louvers. Here are a couple website links showing the rear window louvers I'm talking about.

My third request is for the 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 302. Now this is always the case whenever this car is featured in a video game. It's also something the kind of makes me upset because it's always the Boss 302 model we have. Well,I would love to have the correct parts to make a 100% correct Mach 1 or Boss 429. This also doesn't seem to be like it would be difficult to add because the rear fenders (aka rear quarter panels) are already modeled and in the game. What my request is to see the rear quarter panel scoops added to the customization. Growing up my father owned a 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 and I've always wanted to drive one in a video game. The problem is we always see the Boss 302 which did not have those rear quarter panel scoops. The other thing needed to make a 100% correct Mach 1 is the c-pillar badge that was only on the Mach 1 and Boss 429. This would have to be modeled and added. The last thing is the Mach 1 hood scoop which was narrower and lower compared to the Boss 429 hood scoop we have. To be honest,I would actually pay money to have these added to the customization for the 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 302. I love this car and it's rather special to me personally. This stuff should always be included for this car when featured in a video game. The car is iconic and should be represented properly. Here are a couple website links showing the rear quarter panel scoops (aka rear fenders),c-pillar badge, and Mach 1 hood scoop (note: there is a small badge on the front side of the Mach 1 hood scoop which stated the engine size, either 351,390,427,or 428). One last thing,I greatly appreciate the RTR customization which was included for this car.

Last but not least,I have a request for the 2015 Ford Mustang GT 5.0. And once again it's for rear window louvers. I don't know what it is about them, but I just love them and really add that aggressive look. So rear window louvers are my last request. I would greatly appreciate it if these could be added to NFS:Payback along with the others. To go back to something I said a bit earlier,I would quite honestly pay for all of these customizations. Anyway, here is a couple website links showing the rear window louvers I'm talking about.

So I really do hope that the headlights and taillights get corrected. I really do think this is something that was overlooked and should be addressed. It just makes sense because of the hide-a-away headlights we have featured. I also really hope to see the requests I made come to life in NFS:Payback or at the very least, taken for inclusion in the next NFS release. As I said,I would gladly pay money for them. Thanks!

Sincerely,

Well sorry for this but the charger doesn't have a 70's front end... This made me mad too.. As well as the headlights... Also I really want the option to put a blower on mine...

First off great post. Good to see I am not the only guy that look for those extra details.

As i real car guy ( ex automotive technician and had a few project cars myself) i can appreciate that some incorrect details can bug one a lot

I am sorry if i come acrossed as rude or nit picking but i don't mean it that way. I just want to mention that the in game Dodge charger only has the 68 and 69 front grill and tail lights.

The 68 year dodge had the full width grill with the hide away lights. Then in 69 the did the split style front with hide away lights as well. 1970 was the return to the full width grill but the added in a trim piece length wise to give ti a split look.

    1968 Dodge charger

    1969 Dodge charger

and here is what the 1970 Dodge charger looked like. You can see the trim piece .

I never even noticed if the hide away lights are off during the day. I do agree with you if they are on all the time . I see that all the cars with hide away or pop up lights have them on all the time. It would be nice to be able to turn them on or off like you say.

The 55 Chevy indeed has the correct details but i wish we could add or remove the rocker panel and front fender chrome trim. It was a trim piece added only as an trim package and never a set deal. Be really cool to remove it on my pro touring 55 to give it the final smoothed look. Like you say those small details go a very long way for us car guys.

As for the 56 Chevy grill you mentioned , we don't have that in game . The 1956 year had a full width grill like this.

and here is the 55 as you know.

again i would love to be able to remove that side trim piece for a smooth look like this . 🙂

In short i am totally in agreement with you. Those small details in game may sound small but to all of us who are so passionate about Payback and any car customization game really  its the world to us really. I have said it before in other posts but there is times when I am customizing a car in payback and I become so involved in it that i can feel every body line, how smooth the paint is, the smell of the tires and all of those details us gear heads/ car guys know for real translating into the game. Its why i am so adamant about the tire widths and body rake as well. Its the perfect final touch that keeps the immersion going. If the small detail is flawed then it stands out like crazy and breaks my moment if you will lol. In game example , rim size and the stance of a car is so very important to its look plus well having the wider tires in the back and thinner in the front is a must for that fine perfect detail that makes you go.." yeah thats the stuff.

We have the C10 but can we take it to this level of  "dam!!" . Se the stance , rims and tire widths are indeed a major part of the complete package. I mean that would be so bad azz to get this stance rim and tire customization in game.

Lastly like i already siad like 100 times lol ,  I would like to add a request for better rim sizing and choice. I have wanted to use some rims in game but found i couldn't get past the looks of them being to small in diameter . Maxed diameter still wasn't big enough to get rid of the thick side wall. Id be pretty dam happy if all rims could be maxed to tire size. Also i wish we could have more new rims added. Look i get that this cost and if Ghost wanted to make rim packs as purchasable content then I am willing and ready. I agree with your post and its cool to see that some one else is passionate for these details as I am.

Good post my friend ! :eahigh_file:

I get that you guys want extreme detail in the game but do understand that it costs Ghost money to license the cars and even then they have to abide by the limits and requirements that the manufacturer sets for them. Still i like that you guys are not throwing a childish tantrum like most guys here. Kudo's for that. I do think that saying that ''hideaway lights not hiding away during the day'' can make or break a racing game is extremely petty.

  • I have to agree with DubzzO. I saw the original post the other day, but I haven't said anything before now because as he said, at least the posts are written constructively and not like a tantrum. But headlights on during the day breaking the game? C'mon.

Well I guess Im blind cause i never saw the part about the head lights being game breaking in his post. I do now but missed it the first time , oh well that's what happens when you get old I guess lol. I my self never said any of the things i wrote was game breaking. Having 350 hrs into the game now I am going to go out on a limb here and say i don't find these things game breaking at all😛 but it certainly would add to the game in a really big way.

Plus i have already posted many times to others that adding things cost money so I am fully aware of that. Read my other posts, i have done my research in regards. My main request / suggestion through out the Payback forum as been in regards to the tire width , body rake and rims. We have the exact same list of rims as we had in 2015 minus  2 drag and  2 off road rims. It would be nice to see a few more added. As well seeing that I know it cost to add stuff I said I would be willing to pay for some rim DLC packs . As for the rest of my " issues" I would think it would be a matter of doing some in game coding for the rims sizes to be bigger on a lot of the rims , removing some trim on certain cars via panel selection  as we already have and adding in the same tire width and body rake we had in 2015. Thats all i want to see be done. I can even live with out free roam cops, events in multiplayer , more cars added and all the rest of the stuff requested on here. Like my C10 example says  , it would be nice to to have these things for those final touches.
