Hot Pursuit not starting (error message - cannot start the graphics device)

Hi, When I try to launch the game it tells me "Cannot start the graphics device. Check your setting are valid in the config tool" The game version 1.0.0.0 worked on this computer. But after Update...

Thank You for advice. I will try it next time , when i have similar problem.
But i already somehow solved the problem. I just used RC flight simulator (RF7) from Phoenix RC and after that , when
i once more tried to launch Hot Pursuit , it worked fine!!!

@raps80 Hi, can you go to the game's folder and try running the config tool, make sure the game's resolution matches your desktop and ensure the correct graphics card is chosen from the drop-down menu.

I'm installing the game now, hopefully I can replicate the issue and we can find a fix. (Edit: download complete, I wasn't able to recreate issue unfortunately)

On Steam the tool should be at Steam\steamapps\common\Need for Speed Hot Pursuit and on Origin it would be at Origin Games Steam\Need for Speed Hot Pursuit

Hi,

Thank You for replay.

I also once more installed the game , but got the same error message. Strange is , that in the Config tool is the resolution slot empty and i cant change it. I attached the print screen from it.

@raps80 That's interesting. I'm not sure why it's happening but hopefully we have a workaround.

You can try manually setting the resolution values, hopefully that'll help.

If you go to My Documents\Criterion Games\Need for Speed(TM) Hot Pursuit you can open up the config file with notepad. In it you can try manually setting the height and width values. Save this then try launching the game again.

You can try using your native resolution or the default values the game uses on my system. On my system it shows up under the [Display] tab as:

Height=768

  I changed the settings and saved it (in to 1920x1080 and also tried 1024x768) , but after launching the game i got the same error and old settings were back like this:

    Thanks for the update, that's a bit strange. Can I check what your monitor's native resolution is? Also, do you use more than 1 screen?
