I don't know if you guys already knew this but apparently this is a thing. The only way to start a pursuit is through a bait crate.I mean...really? Come on.

@kartov93 I want to see where you came to the conclusion that 80% of the community has requested no free roam cops. One of the big selling points of this game was cops. They talked about pursuits and then told us the only way to do a pursuit is with a point to point timed event or through story missions. That is not a real pursuit and it is also unrealistic. It is a racing game with cops, what is the point in cops if they dont chase you in the open world?

Agree with you . Or bait crate should be open world , it would be good if any 1 wants pursuit he/she can trigger bait crate and loose the cops in open world not like they mentioned " reach destination in time limit " ,then it'll be just like hot pursuit .I always prefer open world pursuit like in old games . If you do anything wrong like speeding or hit and run in front of cops pursuit will start . it's always pleasure to see cops cruising around city and chased by them anywhere ( Streets , highways , offroad ) . And about accidentally hitting a cop then better watch your driving skills . There should be switch to toggle cops in open world .

Everything was going so well too. I hadn't really found anything to nitpick about (maybe the lack of dynamic weather but that was it).This takes me back to the old days of NFS development where you'd see one good idea then it was gone the next game (NFS Underground 2's advanced customization was nowhere to be found in NFS Most Wanted).What was the reasoning for this baffling omission (or rather removal)?

If you hit bait crate, you start a pursuit from a A point to a B point with a limited time. Sorry for you but i can't call this a pursuit. It's a open world and they limite cops action for nothing. I need cops in free roam and yes it's a huge deal for the commmunity. Every Need for Speed with an Open world had free-roam pursuit and now they break that. I'am really impatient to see comments about Need for Speed Payback : "The world is empty" "Some activities but nothing else" "Cops missing in the Open World"Ah and Need for Speed... it's not The Crew and the Crew is not Need for Speed.

I just learned that there's no free-roam pursuits...

Unfortunately, yeah this is the world we live in now....
And that "bait crate" thing is a bit too "The Crew" to add that to the NFS Franchise without it looking like a blatant copy...

Really let down long term fan of nfs but sticking the thrill of out running the cops in free roam is a kick in the face I’ve been playing nfs since hot pursuit and I’ve stuck by the series since but it’s a bit much let downs with the past few games and this will be another if people do not like cops then go play grand turismo...let’s not ruin things for long term fans payback has everything we want why bring it down by sticking cops in a box with a time limit and finish line...go back to the out of site and ur home free tactics...I’ve pre order nfs payback and it’s prior 6days from release so have 4 of my online friends...if this can’t be fixed or patched with a cops on/off toggle option in setting we all have decided to ask for refunds of the deluxe edition and will be going over to team “CREW 2”

@Jay90Rock This is the latest game I got, im not allowed to play games until the holidays have started and I havent had my xbox played in a couple years so I got it out to use my EB games gift card I got for my birthday and I came home. It's the best game I've seen and played in my life still in 2019. Then I realised that it's not like NFS Rivals with free roam cops and that was a slight downside. Im halfway through the game and I still didn't know we could start pursuits with crates. Yet this still seems a bit too much just to start a pursuit.
