It essentially is gambling, but at least not with real life currency on loot crates. When the Gameplay Trailer came out, they made it clear you risk a lot during the night as the Task Force will be harsh. It shouldn't have been that surprising that the cops would be hard. Personally, I'm okay with this mechanic as it makes the nights a lot more intense and dangerous as it's supposed to be.
I do LOVE the risk involved, and have no issue with cops being really hard! I’d simply shift the focus on loss to be more RP oriented rather than losing a chunk of cash. But gotta agree, it is way better than going for loot crates, and at least cars get unlocked pretty fast, so the pain and gamble comes more when looking to unlock epic performance parts, which is indeed not a bad thing.

The initial reason I brought this up is mostly because I ended up stacking a lot of cash (300k so), and then wanted to go practice escaping the cops and hitting heat 5, but I felt I couldn’t really « practice » as while doing so (and failing at times), I’d lose pretty much all the money I just spent hours to do. Problem not being that cops are hard, more that after losing hundreds of thousands, you don’t feel like « bummer i’ll get it next time » but feel more like you wasted all that time racing during the « day ».
And after grinding for cash to buy stuff, losing it all kinda makes you wonder why you did spent all that tile grinding. I feel a lot of people seem to think I am bashing the game, I am not, I am loving that game, just wanted to open discussion about this mechanic which makes you feel you waste your time collecting bank.
Please don’t reply if your comment will mention players to stop crying or play something else, you’d be bringing nothing useful or interesting to the discussion and would be better off staying silent while we chat about our thoughts and work on improving the need for speed franchise for this or future titles.- 6 years ago
I have resorted to leaving night time as soon as I get to heat lvl 2, if I stay around that long. I know I am losing out on Rep, but cops are way Overpowered right now
- 6 years ago@Yetskii Yeah i don't get higher than lvl2 i jump to garage and than i come out again, but in my opinion the cops are fine the way they are they act like real cops this time
- 6 years ago@NotoriousPoutine Sorry if i was to harsh but i am sick and tired of people complain about this and that about heat, for the first time in many years Ghost made the perfect Need for Speed let us try to make this a better game,i love how they made the cops so savage, its all or nothing just like in real life. Again Sorry if i was to harsh.
- 6 years ago@selticus1978 I don't complain about gameplay itself,it's just like Rivals, flawed but unique. What I don't like about this game is the direction NFS is going towards. When EA stated back 2 the root they should at least do a research on the root of NFS.Heat is just a Blackbox ultra mix with flawed mechanism. So naturally it's not good enough to save the dying series of NFS nowadays

I want to know why I just got busted almost instantly while level 2 and driving fast in the grass? This is the second time in a row i thought it was weird I had no warning, but this second time was shockingly off.
