Most Wanted Ruining PS3 Disc Games

THIS ISSUE HAS ALMOST RUINED MY PS3

So this issue was affecting only Most Wanted. Now it seems to have broken all other games on disc. The actual issue reported was on the following thread (which has been marked as 'solved' when actually this is patently incorrect):

After trying on numerous occasion the game kept freezing. After a while other games were affected - games loaded by disc would 'hang' at some point whilst the disc was being accessed. Games on my hard drive seemed ok. Please note that my other disc games were absolutely fine for quite a while after the first Most Wanted issue.

So - I completely wiped my PS3 and restored factory settings. The error for Most Wanted still occurred. After this I tried other games, these also did not work (same issue).

After this, I restored factory settings again, and tried other games (I did this before trying Most Wanted this time). same error. I tried Most Wanted again, same error.

What I did next was buy NFS Hot Pursuit from the PS Store (spending more money on a game I already owned) and it worked fine and continues to do so. I was going to repurchase Most Wanted as a last resort, but it is listed with the RIDICULOUS price of £59.99!! Twenty pounds more than I paid for the game on disc!

In summary, this game has ruined my disc drive. THIS IS A SIGNIFICANT ISSUE!! I don't know if this has happened to anyone else, but it is obviously a symptom of the other issue linked to above.
