Can anyone give me a ballpark as to how much my PR would need to be to win this race? I've got a PR of 832 and the current rating of the race is hard- no matter how well I run the race, I can only ...

I was able to win that race with 865PR AMG-GT and it took more than 30 attempts. Some people say that you can win this race with 830-840PR Nissan GTR. Also note that there is a similar race in next chapter so whichever car you use to win this race will be a few PR short for that race.
PS: I am surprised that you are level 96 and do not have any 850+ car. Invest on McLaren instead of LaFerrari.

@Newerbie - well, it depends. You will definitely need Viper for Tuner Trials, at least 800-ish, which is also enough for Snakebite series. But for the end-game I'd suggest McLaren, as you can get it further (for the same amount of money) and it is better suitable for grinding ch18/ch19 blueprints.
- To finish the game you will need PR of 920, so keep improving the (right) car. I recommend you to use the McLaren or another car which can reach a high PR level. I keep using my Lamborghini Huracán, from the 2015 Christmas especial event.
