Underground, Underground 2, Most Wanted, Carbon, Prostreet, Undercover, all those were year to year back to back Black Box games (as well as NFS HP2, but I feel like that's more like an adaptation of an earlier engine from other devs; that one was just a bit weird in how different it was to underground in terms of graphics and such).
Anything after that (The Run) was just the product of a failing devision of EA - The Run was the last thing they ever made...
UG/UG2 was a shared engine/build
MW and Carbon kinda shared a thing that evolved into Prostreet and Undercover...
Meanwhile Heat is built on Payback which is built on NFS2015 which is built using frostbite...
The only reason I'm focused on the bugs and glitches is that the underlaying structure of the game has been the same since NFS2015, they've just remade the game over the last release that they had, and should've NOT introduced new bugs, fixed old ones, and so on...
With the BB games back in the day, even games that shared bases were radically different enough for bugs and such to emerge.
moving to carbon meant converting everthing to night. And undercover was open world vs closed race tracks (prostreet had car issues too, but hey... it wasn't a particularly good entry anyway (I actually got it after Undercover)).
I'm not expecting flawless, but I expect much better response to things that are so obvious...
Even after all its patches, the crew (an ubisoft game) still has two major issues 1. It would almost always launch an installer that you'd need to kill with task manager to start the game (there's nothing to install) 2. it has a >50% of not working if you switch out of the game to your desktop...
Anyway... many of these shouldn't have even made it to release...
Maybe in the early playtest versions, yes, but not a release and certainly not a patch 1 month afterwards...
About BB games-they stop innovation after MW05 or Carbon(If Autosculpt parts count as a innovation)Yes they are hugely rushed since Carbon, but other than the rubbish The Run,ProStreet and Undercover just did what NFS did before poorly.
About recycle and common engine,Burnout used Renderware engine throughout its lifespin of 2001-08(Remaster is the same thing so no)But even with same engine and same speed/carnage focused gameplay, all 5 main Burnout games had innovation/difference in gameplay.Burnout 2 introduced Crash mode,BO3 added TAKEDOWN(hence the name) and Aftertouch.BO4 added Revenge mode and Traffic Attack.BO5 turned series into open world racing game and add new collectables/unlock system.
If we look at NFS BB games, the gameplay innovation stops after MW05-Open world/Drift/Drag/Speed Trap/Cops/Boss races.3 BB games after MW05 shared such things more of less. With The Run just totally give up as garbage since that game is linear and simple like an arcade machine game.
Just like Classic Era NFS only had 6 main games,BB NFS also only had 6 main games(The Run is totally unfinished so no)After 6 games Ghost took over to end the mix styles from different devs.So naturally, even NFS survives after Heat flops hell.Ghost or any dev of NFS can only extend the series to 24th main game, then it's game over for NFS.But TBH I think useless Ghost may kill NFS with NFS2019 alone,so maybe they can break the cycle

Sure, stuff after carbon was kinda not 'innovative' but at least they all had more story than this, right? You acutally had to build things up to complete the story.
I did grow up in the UG2/MW/Carbon era, so that had the most impact for me.
I didn't say anothing after the run being a fail, just that the run was the last thing BB ever made as a failing devision.
As in anything after Undercover (the run)...
I meant anything after the last yearly BB release, not anything after the last BB NFS/game ever... - 6 years ago
@speedracer523 @GK3512 @4Northstar
You all made some exciting posted comments and I will just add my honest opinion I some days wonder if Ghost Devs maybe want this game to fail on purpose?
I like to hear back from any of you on that thought I was having.
Have a great day.
- 6 years ago@BLVD69 No. If Ghost did this on purpose continuously. They shouldn't even be allowed to do NFS since 2013. The problem are because EA is too obsessed with a 15 years old trend and Ghost is too mixed to be good at either part of NFS(Previous 3 games for 3 styles-Cannonball/FF/Action)

I doubt any developer wants their game to fail, that doesn't make sense. The problem is the time frame they are given by EA to create a game. Ghost Games has to have some other issues as well. Considering that this is the same game engine as the past two games they shouldn't have all these problems. They must have lost some key people either due to the constant pressure from EA or fired due to the bean counters at EA. The main problem here is EA, they are the ones pushing the game out the door unfinished, Ghost Games has no input. They are owned by EA and are treated as employees.

NFS Rivals also used Frostbite 3 engine. The past three NFS games from Ghost Games used Frostbite 3 engine.
However, NFS Rivals was rushed as Ghost Games had just 6 months to make that game. (The PS4 and Xbox One releases fared better than the other platforms though, due to Ghost Games prioritizing these platforms as NFS Rivals was the first NFS game for these consoles)
- 6 years ago@TheRealJony If I recall correctly(Maybe not) Rivals was originally Criterion Hot Pursuit 4.But Criterion went broken after MW2012,so the leftover of HP4 project was sent to Ghost(Mix of BB+Criterion) and finished off in a over-short time.Hence why Rivals is buggy and unpleasant as a new game
- 6 years ago@4Northstar Ghost isnt the first dev pressured and killed by EA even just considering NFS devs.EA cycle is simple-A dev being bought under EA,the original works of the dev will be shut down one day,the new project will be rushed into junk, sales flops hell,EA blame dev not doing a good work and kill the dev/series off.Such thing has happened to NFS/non-NFS devs under EA.I dont think it's weird if Ghost is killed after Heat flops hell.

Please fix all cars in the game so the cars can roll down the hill automatically while in neutral, like what all cars should do when in neutral. Right now, all the cars just sit on a steep hill and will not roll down automatically while in neutral. Thanks!!
