Hi GK3512 nice to e-meet. Yes you have a point Blackbox Games shutdown operations in 2013 it was acquired by EA.
Secondly, Chameleon/Renderware are the majors softwares currently in use.
More so, instead of remastering old games when many of us still have NFS Hot Pursuit either on disc or in digital form, like you said remastering will result in losing some parts, cars etc. due to license issues.
It feels off and disappointing when as a gamer can't enjoy the way it first was on the first release then people tend to make videos on YouTube comparing every detail change from past to present. Which makes a gamer wonder "Why" did they change it. Visuals effects and graphics are not everything, gameplay and experience of a game matters the most.
I personally love EA been playing their games since 15+ years I strongly feel they should consider focus on newer games that majority of us will enjoy instead.
Last hopefully EA won't remaster the old NFS games and a few other titles by BlackBox Games I recently share a post requesting them if possible to renew the licenses of some classic games and possibly adding them to their new EA Desktop App.
This is what I want personally remasters/ remakes will just be another disappointed.
I just hope day the classics titles see the light of day again the same way we all grow up playing them.
Thanks for your comment 🙂
- 5 years ago@johnny1xx1 It's impossible to renew all licenses to make most of old NFS available again. The reason Paradise and HP2010 got remastered is because the original's license deal is expired. As I stated before Paradise original was dropped in August 2018 and HP2010 original was dropped instantly when HD is in the store.License are timed contents which means if they are expired the publisher(EA in this case) must choose to either renew the license deal(Just like MS is doing with cars in Forza) or dropped the game(Just like almost every Forza is dropped after 4 years)EA is a money-focused company so they prefer to spare expenses, which lead to some deletion of music and cars in HP2010 HD.

Yes I agree on one thing EA is a money focus company maybe that's why they get so many negative reviews from old gamers.
Licenses maybe timed but I don't see why instead of discarding the game either renew the license or give it to someone who can take good care of it.
Take GOG for example with just the source and the game codes they can release old titles on their store. Now knowing EA still have the rights to the old NFS games it is not impossible to renew or give the licence of that particular game to someone else.
This way gamers can enjoy classic EA titles from GOG and EA can even earn more from their past games.
Gamers will use GOG for classic EA titles while EA can continue making newer games and focus on new projects.
