Need for Speed Most Wanted 2012 not launching properly from steam

So, I recently purchased NFS MW on steam during the sale so I could revisit the game after a few years, now I tried to play it but it does not get to the title screen passed a black screen with a loading circle. I tried it through EA play on origin and it loaded up fine and I could play the game... I have no idea what difference the platforms make as to why one loads the game and the other does not. I just want to load the game through steam as that is where I own it. I don't know how long I'm going to keep up EA Play so i want to get this fixed asap

    There was an update for a bunch of EA games on steam yesterday, and that broke this game. It seems a bunch of important files were deleted.

    A temporary fix until there's another update is getting the missing files and redownloading them - I've detailed how to do that in this Reddit post. Let me know if this works for you!

    This worked a treat. Turns out the EN_US folder didn't even exist in the first place

    I bought the game yesterday, I got it on sale, I installed it but it stays on the black screen with the loading circle, it doesn't go past that phase, please solve this problem

    I have called EA Helpline about this. 

    The first person said they would report it and I would get an email with steps.......nothing happened. 

    The second time I called the guy said there is no team to support this game essentially implied its almost my fault for buying an older game which they are still selling and suggested the following:

    * I shouldn't expect support for such an old game

    * there is no team looking after the game in any way (as it turns out ..... wrong)

    * I should reinstall my system

    * I should just get a refund

    After that he sat in silence.

    I have called back and got someone else:

    Really helpful, went and spoke to the team who support the game, they are aware of the issue but don't know what has caused it but are working on it.

    The fix will hopefully be released sooner than this but should be fixed by the 14th November 2022 at the latest.

    I'm hope this information helps any one else who is having the same problem.
