Need for Speed Most Wanted Wii U - Game crashes when trying to first load

I am having a serious issue now with my physical disc copy of NFSMW.  A few days ago the Wii U auto downloaded and install a software update for this game.  Now the game won't even finish loaded.  It shows the intitial boot up screen, but then hard crashes and then I have to pull the plug.

Is there any fix for this????????

I just got this game and would really like to play as so far it is great.  Thanks.
