need for speed ps4 won't start

Bought game on PSN,

Need for Speed game (Exact title of game: Need for speed)

Download and startup game

Get to initial title screen menu to press X

Press X

after a few seconds states cannot reach EA servers

tried this several times

confirmed internet works fine

cannot get past this initial title screen

Sidenote: Same exact issue with Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare also purchased on PSN
