Need for Speed Rivals - This service is currently undergoing maintenance (E-820001F7).

This may be a shock to you; it caught me off-guard as well. EA is not the only one doing this. The game industry has tried in the past to counter cheaters and piraters. It is now a requirement to be online, with their servers, to play the game. It no longer matters if it is Single or Multiplayer. Maintenance can be anything from an update to the game, routine virus scans, adding more servers, or rebooting to clear unnecessary cache. So when their servers are down for maintenance, we can only hope they are back online when the say they will be.    

I just bought the game today and hit this error, I didn't played it for 5 minutes ..... its incredible.

I don't understand why it needs internet connection for single player

I have this problem too. If you are playing on ps4, sign out of psn and you will be able to play single player. Totally not as fun as multiplayer, I know, but it is what I am doing 🙂.

If the error code is the following (not E-820001F7), then it is a PSN code.

If the issue persist today, please let us know.
