Need For Speed Underground 2 won't launch

For many years i've been playing this game without any problems. Last week I decided to install it on my pc again (windows 7) and unfortunately it doesn't launch the game.

What happens is when I click the icon I can hear that my cd drive activates but then it goes quiet and nothing happens. No error messages appear. I do see the intro picture with Brooke Burke for a second but then it disappears and the game doesn't start. I tried to use different compatibility modes, checked for conflicting security updates, run as administrator, install multiple times over, but still the problem isn't solved.

I read somewhere that installing the game in compatibility mode might help so I did and it did work, unfortunately only for a few times ☹️ When I tried to play it yesterday it didn't launch again. How? I can't figure out what the problem is. Can anyone help me solve this?

I've figured out that when I remove and install the game over (in compatibility mode) it will work again. Luckily your progress in the game won't be lost. When I close the game and start it up again it also works without problems. When I turn off the computer and turn it on again, that's when the game refuses to launch. I don't understand why. Could it be that something in the installation folder gets corrupted after you shut down the computer? Anyway, now I just have to start with a new installation each time I want to play. 😛
