NFS: Carbon “crashes” on startup

So I recently bought NFS: Carbon and tried running it. The game opens up pretty much normally, but after the EA logo it just closes. No error or crash message or anything. Just closes. I have a 64bit Windows 10 and I tried running the game in Windows Vista (Service Pack 2) compatibility mode as adminstrator (if I tried running it in Windows XP Service Packs, it said something about inserting the correct DVD-DOM). I bought the game from Amazon and the disc should be just fine.

I also bought NFS: Most Wanted (2005) and it runs just fine without any issues

  • Based on you mentioning that it Carbon complained about the disc when you tried to run it in XP mode, it could be that Windows 10 is preventing the game from installing a digital rights management driver used to check for a valid disc. I know that ProStreet uses SecureRom, and Windows 10 prevents the SecureRom driver from being installed, but I don't know if Carbon also attempts to install a security driver that Windows 10 will block from installing.
