There are multiple possible reasons you are seeing that 'unable to connect' message, check the following link for info.

So did a test with my girlfriends account. I logged into her account on my PC. It was without a hitch. No issues. Able to go online with her profile. I log off her stuff and log into mine and same issue. Possibly an EA account issue, not sure. So I don't know if I have to do something with my EA account.
