I do not know if they work today.
First I have to download them again to test.
And this takes a long time.
The game worked in the beginning, not completely painless.
I've played 110 hours.
I have the same settings on my computer that I had when I first installed the game.
I'm unsure about performing a Clean Boot.
My computer may not work after this.
It's not worth the risk.
A Clean Boot is a pretty standard step, in essence it just turns off any 3rd party programs that you have set to start when your system boots up. That way you can eliminate 3rd party programs as a factor without having to hunt down and disable each one manually.
- 5 years agoHi.
I have now performed a Clean Boot.
And restarted the computer.
Opened Origin pressed the play button.
The screen goes down to black for a few seconds, will the game start?
No. I'll return to the Start page on Origin. Unfortunately.
I used the left shift button when I pressed the play button. - EA_David5 years ago

Thank you. Can I check you took the security software steps above too? I just want to ensure they weren't missed previously.
- 5 years agoHi.
I removed everything including security software steps.
It made no difference.
The start button on the game never appeared in Origin.
I just pressed the game and then it became a black screen, and then back to Origin. - EA_David5 years ago

OK, that's interesting, especially as you note issues with Origin previously. If you install the EA Desktop app does that have similar issues running the game?

Also if you check the Windows Event Viewer are there crash events for the game? - 5 years agoHi.
I have now install EA Desktop. I press the start button and the same issues running the game from Origin. - EA_David5 years ago

OK thanks, well that's progress of a sort. Did anything show up in Event Viewer? it's ok if not, but sometimes they show up helpful info.
If you're unfamiliar with it, there's a short primer at this 3rd party site: https://www.howtogeek.com/123646/htg-explains-what-the-windows-event-viewer-is-and-how-you-can-use-it/
Also, just to double check, can you ensure your Windows doesn't have any pending updates? - 5 years agoHi.
I am shutting down this troubleshooting process.
Can't find anything that would disturb the game.
I will now uninstall the game.
If you come up with an update in the future, you can get in touch.
Then maybe it works as it should. I want to play.
The game worked for 110 hours.
What happened then? - 5 years agoHi
For your information.
Downloaded NFS Payback and the game worked perfectly with my computer settings.
