Now thats a good question I believe everything in this kind of Tournament is absolutly random.
Why?
cause
- the RP of the NPC Cars dont fit to the Cars in general
- the RP of the NPC Cars dont fits to the Lap Time they come in (It seems they regenerate Nitro twice as fast as the PC)
- It Seems you drive against PC Cars very late in the Tournament
All in all PvP Tournement are PvE Tournaments where the NPCs cheat like there is no tomorrow.
The Com wait of answers from the Developer since the GTI Tournament 2 weeks ago.

@nLSimply When you check your Golf GTI if it can be upgraded any further, does it show any conversion materials needed? If so, then you need those conversion materials to upgrade your Golf GTI's performance parts to a purple background.
@Graete1983 I do agree that the AIs in tournaments cheat. They catch up to players extremely quick. The thing I do when they're catching up to me is ramming them!
- I do exactly the same but you know the tournaments need real care from the monkeys. I mein ist NFS Not the oldschool Death Rally.
AT the and of IT eher tournaments turn intolerant a Stock car Championwhip.@Graete1983 My cars don't go stock after doing so many Tournament events. My cars still have the same performance stats they always have before participating in Tournaments.

i am German and a "Stock car rennen" by us is a Ralley where a lot of Cars in a small circle try to ram and destroy the other cars to win.
