NFS Payback trial constant stuttering and pop-in issues (GTX 1060 6gb, i5 7500)

So, I really want to like this game, it has a lot of features that I love and the handling is WAY better than the one in NFS 2015, but I have so many problems with stuttering and texture pop in that it's impossible for me to like it.

I bought Origin Access just to play this game early, and instead of it making me more hyped for the game, it had the opposite effect, and I'm seriously considering not buying it, since I have a more than capable PC and these problems only happen with this game.

Basically, the game stutters every 30 seconds, textures don't load in properly, and sometimes the game fails so badly to load textures and objects that it freezes for a couple of seconds, ruining the flow and immersion of the game. All these problems are stronger and happen even more frequently on multiplayer, making a already lackluster multiplayer experience totally unplayable for me.

Also, I feel like the new patch and the new Nvidia drivers, instead of fixing or even remedying the problem, they made it worse.

I already tried: Turning Shadowplay off, clean boot, lowering graphics settings, running the game on windowed mode. Nothing worked.

This is definitely a streaming issue, so an SSD should help, but unfortunately I don't have one.

I am linking my DxDiag below, as requested by an admin in an other post where a guy was having similar problems but on a GTX 970.

I don't know if the full game has remedied these issues but I don't think so, judging from other posts that I read here.

I hope you guys can sort this out and make the game playable for me since I really want to enjoy it and give you a proper feedback based on my impressions.

However, i can report that the issues also appear on my pc and its even worse: every second race all textures will not load any more and the game chrashes.
    My pc specs:
R5 1600x ( 12 threads should be enough to stream in data within nanoseconds)
16gb ram @ 2800mhz (has to be fine too)
Gtx 1080 ( problem may be due to uncommon ggdr5x memory)
Game installed on new samsung 850 evo 250gb, 200 gb free ( works fine for every other game)
I hope the issues can be fixed as fast as possible, so i can enjoy my game.

Thx for any care about my problem
  • Hey guys...

After the big patch in December the stuttering was gone for me but after the new big update last month the stuttering got back and even worse...

I have had contact a couple of times with EA and they can't seem to find a solution for this but.... I found one after long searching and trying a lot of different things...

Most of the people i see online are on a machine using multiple cores... I have a pretty mean machine myself and i think the problem is limited to these kind of machines:

    Core i7 7700K

    Asus Maximus Formula IX

    32 GB 2666 HyperX memory

Asus GTX 1080 Ti OC 11 GB

    960 Pro NVME 512

    4K screen

I GOT IT TO WORK NOW!!

If you have a machine with more then 4 cores you will get the stuttering in some configurations and you can fix it:

    1. I downloaded a simple program called 'Process Lasso'

    2. Installed it and started Need For Speed Payback.

    3. Lookup NeedforSpeedpayback.exe in the processes

    4. Rightclick the process and click the second line: CPU affinity

    5. Now select Always...

    6. Click CPU affinity

    7. deselct a couple of cores but leave 5 cores checked...

    8. Go back to the game

    9. Enjoy stutter-free (but occasionally mini freezes as a little downside)

Why this program you ask? Because this sets this affinity with the cores every time you start the game instead of doing it manually via Task Manager in W10.

It's not a real solution of course but now it's playable without getting tears in your eyes and a headace after playing for about 10 minutes...

I hope this also works for you all...

If you first want to test it you can of course set the affinity in the task manager first to check if it solves the problem for you. With 2 cores it's unplayable, 3 cores is still quite bad, 4 cores it's finally playable but 5 cores is the limit of the game (so it seems).

If any of the EA crew are reading with me... Please fix this issue... None of my other games have this problemwhile playing every game @ 4K ultra.

    Good luck to you all!

    Greets,

    Mark

Yeah, its 4.04.18,and as i know there was about 4 updates on payback, but still its bad to play (freezes, stutters),maybe problem is in frost bite engine, its prety laggy.About payback gameplay,i am playing on 1680x1050 with auto settings, game is running good in some spots, but its sttuters too much in some places, even fps drop,i can get dropped from 80 fps to 35.As i know this problem is till game was released and it seems that ghots cant get rid of it or just they dont want to do it.So yeah, for now i payed for nothing, thanks ea and ghosts, keep on that way and die frostbite.😎
