Dear Harmony,
I read your post here in Answer HQ and thought you were actually replying to this issue of game crashing. Today my game crashed 7 times (as decribed in this multiple postings of issue with Rivals) in just the short time I was on, maybe an hour. Normally it isn't this bad.
Yes, I was chasing you down, you use the word harassing. I don't know if I would use that terminolgy as this is one of the main elements designers created the game around. This is an intimidating game and cuddos to you for playing. I have good friends from Most Wanted 2012, some of the best players in the game that preordered Rivals last year and played only a few hours and have never returned. One such player said that the game (Rivals) is "exhausting" and he is one of the best players in the world.
When I first began to play, and for quite a long time this tension/intimidation/fear that is created within the game blew me away when I was being chased. Especially when you include helicopters chasing overhead with spot lights and swirling dust obscuring your vision, sirens and both AI cops as well as player cop(s) pursuing on your tail (if you chose to play Racer Faction) and weapons being used against you.
After reading your post here it took me a while, but then later I did remember why I have been targeting you. I play a very clean game. I mostly play Racer and I search for skilled players to race (head to heads) or I seek good cop players to engage in a (try to catch me) pursuit, otherwise I race around the map by myself and I constantly work at improving my skill level. I practice and practice and practice. As Cornerer from MW says, its not about going fast, it's about what is slowing you down.
My constantly changing skill level came about by doing events, over and over and over to try to make it to the top of my friend leaderboard. My purpose was simply to improve and move myself up the leaderboard ladder...with slowly acquired skill. And that is exactly how to improve skill level in this game. Simply chasing racers or cops doesn't improve skill level much. We need a clock (and friends with same as or greater skill levels) to work with and against to see exactly where we are losing speed and where are skill is lacking.
But back to the reason I was targeting you today. I wasn't sure why myself after reading your post but then later when I was just cruising around the map, I remembered. You, like a few other players get mad when confronted with a player at a higher skill level and you chose to join my Overwatch and deploy various weapons against me. Remember that? The first time you did this was perhaps 2 weeks ago. I remember that clearly now. You did it again today. But did I join your Overwatch? No, I didn't. I also remember (from 2 weeks ago) that after putting up with you in my Overwatch for quite a while I decided to give you a taste of your own medicine and I joined yours and you left the game almost immediately when I did so.
I guess that was in the back of my mind and the reason I chased you today. Well, I apologize for my behaviour today and I also accept your apology.
I notice you mostly play Cop. What do you call it when you chase Racers and try to take them down? This is the game and imho its a great one. I rarely choose to play Cop as the mindset has to be more aggressive and I have to put myself in that mood. By the way, its harder to be cop and chase than it is to be chased. When you are Cop you have to drive very clean when chasing a good player because the smallest mistake allows distance to be gained by the racer.
When I do choose to be Cop I quickly remember that its actually quite fun to chase down and try to bust Racers, but, the mindset is different...don't you think?
Another thing I have found in this game is the different way players react when confronted with another skilled player. Most choose to have that player as... a Rival, and someone they always seek to destroy when in the same game session. I have several of those that view me that way.
Do you remember that today you were the first to begin chasing me? That's fine, I love a challenge, in fact I seek out challenges. But, I let others draw first blood (first use of weapons). If they don't, I don't. But when someone uses a weapon unprovoked against me...then the battle and the aggressive style of gameplay begins. Its a game, that's why we play it, its challenging and its fun and it even more fun to improve your skill level.
Some few others choose to send a friends request when confronted by a challenging player, and then, possibly a line of communication may develop, maybe not, maybe just a friend on the friends list that we choose to not engage in battle.
