NO data corruption

If you are getting repeated crashes and data corruption on your PS4 we may be experiencing a larger issue on the console. 

Can we try the following steps first?

1. Make sure you have the latest software update.
2. Troubleshoot your connection to EA games
3. Unplug any devices attached to the USB slot.
4. Perform a power cycle.
• Touch the power button on the front of the console for at least seven seconds until the system beeps twice.
• Turn it back on after one minute.
• Launch your game.
5. Enter Safe Mode and Rebuild your PS database
6. Reinstall your game. If you're using an external hard drive, consider installing it on the internal drive to see if that helps.

that last step in part 4 makes no sense at all, so i had to ignore it completely, but otherwise i did as you say. i deleted all the save files and the app, then went into safe mode and rebuilt the database, then downloaded the app. again! SO i will start the game from the beginning (again) and the program will run fine, without crashing, until i veer off script, then it gets confused and once again we get data corruption. mark my words, sir. this is what will happen. i know it already ~ 

so yeah, this time i made it all the way to R lvl 22 before the game crashed: "cannot continue using the application. the data is corrupted ..." etc. is my particular console the only one that has this issue? because ouch! ~ 😩 

so i just restarted the ps4 and kept playing, and i nearly (very nearly!) made it to R lvl 25 before it crashed for the second time since the rebuild and reinstall. again it seems to happen when i ignore the objectives the program wants me to pursue. why? anyway, the error code i got is: 

CE-34878-0. is that helpful information? or nah? 

one of the more unfortunate side effects of this random crashing issue is that i can't participate in the multiplayer aspect of the game, which adds a lot of fun and variety to Heat. i can't join for fear of the program crashing in the middle of a race. everyone would think i quit deliberately, and once you get a reputation for being a quitter you're finished (i assume) in the racer community. so yeah, not cool ~ 🤪

The error code can be helpful, but it is a console error message. Could we try the steps shared by Sony?

well! thx for the interesting suggestion. while i'm sure that initialization will certainly solve the data corruption issue, it seems too drastic. i think i found a better solution: 

 so i went to launch Heat and it stalled on the opening image. all i could do was close the app. so i launched borderlands3 and it was loading fine. then it also stalled; on the signing in player screen. hmmm, how odd. 

 so i thought maybe the problem had its source in the profile files. so i made a new user and both apps run just fine now. of course, i have to start from the beginning again, but at least i'm drifting and jumping and racing through palm city again! 

 what do you think of my logic? ~ 😉 

well, my logic may be fine, but my solution turned out to be temporary. in fact, very temporary, as the program crashed not long after i posted the previous comments. so we're back to random crashing due to data corruption, and no fix in sight, and the EA boys have no clue what's going on! 

 well, you know that when your program crashes not only itself but other programs also, that's a serious problem that can't be fixed by initialization. all that will do is to kick the problem down the road for a few weeks. what is needed is an update to repair the faulty subroutine that is generating bad data in the player profile files. how about it, EA? are you interested enough to care about this issue? ~ 😬

Thanks for the updates! to confirm are crashing or stalling in both games on the new profile as well?

Do you also get the error code CE-34878-0?

If so we can try making sure your game data and saves are backed up, removing all profiles and re-adding your main account to see if this solves the issue, if not you may need to look at Initializing the PS4.
